The NFL news cycle never ends, especially during this time of year. On Thursday, former Denver Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett was named as the New York Jets offensive coordinator, sparking a ton of Aaron Rodgers rumors in New York.
On Friday, former Jets OC Mike LaFleur was named as the new OC of the Los Angeles Rams, as reported by Ian Rapoport of NFL Network.

Mike LaFleur spent a few seasons with the San Francisco 49ers before following Robert Saleh to New York. However, after two years with the Jets, LaFleur was let go and immediately became one of the hottest names in the OC market.
Over the final three games of the year for the Jets, they failed to score a signal offensive touchdown, and LaFleur became the odd man out as the franchise aimed for some changes.
The Rams, who won the Super Bowl one year ago, endured a rough season filled with injuries and ended the year with Baker Mayfield as the team’s starting QB.
Liam Coen, the Rams OC in 2022, left to take the job with the Kentucky Wildcats, and a year ago, Kevin O’Connell left to become the head coach for the Minnesota Vikings. So, this will be the third offensive coordinator in three years for the Rams, and if LaFleur does well, he could receive head coaching consideration in the near future.
The Rams finished 26th in the NFL in points per game (18.1), and dead-last in yards per game while finishing 27th in both rushing yards and pass yards per game. Cooper Kupp was injured, the Allen Robinson experiment failed, and the running game was disappointing for much of the season.
Mike LaFleur has his work cut out for him, but the Sean McVay-Mike LaFleur pairing makes too much sense.
