That didn’t take long. On Sunday, the Dallas Cowboys made headlines when it was reported that offensive coordinator Kellen Moore and the team agreed to mutually part ways. That sent one of the hottest OC names into the market.

Two teams immediately surfaced as possibilities: The Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Los Angeles Chargers. On Monday morning, Ian Rapoport of NFL Network reported that Moore is “expected” to be the Chargers’ new OC in a quick move by the LA front office.

The Chargers made changes after a stunning collapse in the Wild Card Round against the Jacksonville Jaguars, and one change was firing OC Joe Lombardi after years of questionable decisions.

Moore was a popular name for head coach openings the past two seasons, and now he heads to LA to work with Justin Herbert in a move that needed to be made. Brandon Staley is back as head coach in LA, and if things don’t go well in 2023, he could be headed for unemployment.

Moore’s time in Dallas was a success, and his offensive ranks over the past few years are too hard to ignore.

Cowboys offensive ranks in yards, points, and DVOA under Kellen Moore:
    2022 – 11th, 4th, 15th
    2021 – 1st, 1st, 6th
    2020 – 14th, 17th, 24th
(^ Dak broke his leg in week 5)
    2019 – 1st, 6th, 2nd
The Chargers should at least try and interview him imo.

Before Moore became available, the Charegrs had interviewed a few different candidates, and Zac Robinson was the favorite to get the job until the Cowboys shocking decision.

Rams’ Zac Robinson was considered favorite for this job, with multiple teams looking for a coordinator pegging him a Charger – until Kellen Moore became available. https://t.co/lZLZDhdqdW

Kellen Moore comes to LA with one of the best young quarterbacks in the game, a few quality wide receivers, and a first-round pick that could land another offensive weapon. This is a smart decision by the Chargers, and Moore wasted no time finding another job.
