Zechariah Owens, a 6’6” 350-lb tackle out of McDonough, Georgia, has committed to Clemson over finalists Penn State and Alabama. He’s ranked the No. 67 player and the No. 8 offensive tackle in the nation, according to 247 Sports.

Owens will join OT Ian Reed and OG Harris Sewell as the third four-star offensive lineman to commit to Clemson in the class of 2023. He chose the Tigers over a Big Ten and SEC program after both conferences signed major media deals recently.

Owens added a little flair to his commitment video, as he teased a Penn State commitment before ultimately showing himself in the Clemson Orange.

    Highlights

A massive tackle with elite strength, Owens will be a significant force off the edge. God help whoever he meets when pulling across the line. The man is nearly 350 lbs with fantastic second-level instincts and aggressive hands.

Here’s one of his highlight tapes where Owens is seen bowling over defenders at all levels of the field.

2023 OT Zechariah Owens (@fl6pjack) is the definition of a #TrenchBully! At 6'7 350lbs he physically dominates opponents. He understands leverage and how he can use his body mass/strength to win battles. Capable of pulling & blocking into the 2nd level. @ElJefeScoop https://t.co/uKWW0dSL93 pic.twitter.com/X6fWWAzWBG

Owens is the 16th commitment that Clemson has gotten in the class of 2023, and he cements this as one of the top offensive line classes in the nation. He is one of those freaks of nature like Tristan Wirfs who has sub-5.0 40-yard dash potential at 350 lbs.

What the Analysts Saw about Owens

“Simply swallows up many opponents and flashes knockdown power at the point of attack and on the move, whether as a puller or climbing to the second level.” 247 Midland recruiting analyst Gabe Brooks said. “He displays impressive movement ability relative to size and bulk.”

He is a high-floor prospect because of these elite physical attributes, so expect to see Owens on the field soon. Owens has the potential to make an instant impact on the Tigers as they look to get back to the playoffs.
