The Carolina Panthers are 0-2 to start the 2024 season. Bryce Young has not played well to start the 2024 season. In the 26-3 loss on Sunday afternoon against the Los Angeles Chargers, Young completed 18-of-26 passes for 84 yards and one interception.
The Panthers the week before lost to the New Orleans Saints on the road 47-10. Bryce Young completed 13-of-30 passes for 161 yards and two interceptions. He also has rushed for 18 yards on five carries and one touchdown this season. Young was the number one overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Alabama.
Carolina Panthers Bench Bryce Young and Will Start Andy Dalton In Week 3
The Panthers are going to be making a shocking move for Week 3 of the 2024 NFL season. They are benching Bryce Young and will start veteran Andy Dalton against the Las Vegas Raiders on the road, per NFL Network. This comes after Bryce Young has massively struggled for the first two weeks of the 2024 NFL season.
Carolina needs a spark. Head coach Dave Canales decided to make this move and will see how it turns out for them. Andy Dalton played in three games last season for the Carolina Panthers. He completed 58.6% of his passes for two touchdowns and zero interceptions.
This could also spell the end of Young being a starting NFL quarterback. He won the Heisman Trophy with the Alabama Crimson Tide. His transition from college to the NFL has not gone as planned. They could have drafted C.J. Stroud from the Ohio State Buckeyes number one overall instead back in 2023.
Possible 2025 NFL Draft Replacement
Will see if Young does start again for the Panthers this season but no matter how this is looked at, it appears as if the Panthers are going to draft a quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft once again. Carolina should be scouting heavily on the top quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft. They had the worst record in the league last season, but that pick was traded to the Chicago Bears.
Andy Dalton is 36 years old and doesn’t appear to be the long-term answer. Bryce Young is only 23 years old but appears to be struggling at the NFL level. He didn’t have a good rookie season and there were no signs of improvement in the first two games of the 2024 NFL season.
Carson Beck of Georgia, Sheduer Sanders of Colorado, or Quinn Ewers of Texas could be the top quarterback taken in the 2025 NFL Draft. Also, even if Carolina does not get the number one pick in the draft, they will take a quarterback because they are not going to win many games this season.
