Early in the offseason, the Philadelphia Eagles lost two of their best pass rushers. They will lose another veteran pass rusher at the conclusion of the 2024 season.
The Philadelphia Eagles lost two pass rushers this offseason
Fletcher Cox announced his retirement in March. In April, the Eagles traded Haason Reddick to the New York Jets after deciding they wouldn’t give him a pay raise. Reddick’s salary demands are giving the Jets grief, as he’s a holdout to start training camp.
The Eagles did add a quality pass rusher in free agency. Former New York Jets defensive end Bryce Huff will add depth to a defensive line that is shedding its age. The Eagles did bring back Brandon Graham on a one-year deal, but he won’t re-sign with Philadelphia after the season.
Brandon Graham plans to retire after the season
Per a transcription by KRON 4 of Graham’s words on Wednesday, the Eagles’ 2010 first-round pick plans to retire at the end of the 2024 campaign:
“I’m thankful man, just trying to enjoy everyday,” Graham said. “Not in no rush. Obviously I’m talking to y’all on the first day, usually I’d be inside. But it’s my last year man. So I’m just trying to soak it all in. Trying to enjoy everyday. Trying to give it everything. No stone unturned.”
Graham wants to return to Philadelphia for another role
Graham has checked off every box he needs to as a player before he retires. He won Super Bowl LII and made it to Super Bowl LVII. While he won’t be in a uniform next season, he opened the door to re-join the team in another capacity:
“Last first day as a player,” Graham said. “I don’t know what the future holds next year in the organization as the next level but I know it’ll be something.”
