Two weeks into the college football season and there have not been many positives for the Boston College Eagles. With a tough loss at home week one against Rutgers 22-21 and a loss last week at Virginia Tech 27-10 it is safe to say that the Eagles are far from where they want to be. Jeff Hadley’s squad has had glimpses of great play and then show lapses of concentration when needed, for most of the team that is to say.
Who is Zay Flowers?
There have been a few consistent key contributors so far through two games. By far the best player on the Eagles is Senior Zay Flowers. The Florida born Flowers has dominated in two games so far for a struggling BC team. He has 14 receptions for 196 yards and two touchdowns so far and he looks to be a promising prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft.
The 5’10” wide out has done nothing but perform since he stepped on campus at Chestnut Hill. Compiling 136 catches for a total of 2,175 yards and 19 touchdown receptions, Flowers looks to be an interesting prospect. He truly can do it all.

Even though Flowers’ small stature may cause some concerns for a bright future in the NFL we have seen many of these unique and multifaceted players prove to have success at the next level. He runs the ball well for a smaller guy and gets used similar to how the 49ers use Deebo Samuel. Despite not being 6 feet tall and 215 pounds like Samuel, Flowers’ speed and agility are used perfectly for him to be able to exploit opponents.
If Flowers can continue to excel for the remainder of the season ESPN’s Matt Miller has him as a top fifty pick in the upcoming draft. The Eagles will host FCS opponent Maine this Saturday with both teams looking for their first wins of the year.
