Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty is projected to be the first running back off the board in the 2025 NFL Draft. Jeanty could no doubt be a first-round pick this season and is also one of the best running backs in the country.
In Boise State’s 45-24 win this past Saturday against Washington State, he rushed for 259 yards on 26 carries and four touchdowns, along with averaging 10.0 yards per carry. He has also caught six passes for 19 yards receiving and zero touchdowns, along with averaging 3.2 yards per reception.
Boise State Broncos Fans Go Wild About Ashton Jeanty’s Heisman Trophy Ranking
On3.com had a Heisman Trophy poll entering Week 6 of the college football season. On their rankings, Colorado Buffaloes wide receiver/cornerback Travis Hunter was ranked as the top favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this season.
As for Boise State Broncos running back Ashton Jeanty, on3.com had him ranked as the second-favorite to win the Heisman Trophy this season. This is what Boise State fans had to say about him being ranked behind Travis Hunter at this point of the college football season:
It’s jeanty or the system is more broken that we thought.

Ashton Jeanty over Milroe and Williams is wild

Boise state running back will never win a Heisman unless he rushes for 2800 yards

No. Ash is #1. Travis is a guy but Ash on pace for almost 3k and 40+ TD

At the moment how can you put anyone above Jeanty let alone Hunter. Hunter has been solid, but his stats don’t jump out.
— Keith White (@KeithWh00159402) September 30, 2024
In just four games this college football season, Ashton Jeanty has rushed for 845 yards on 82 carries and 13 touchdowns, along with averaging 10.3 yards per rush. If Jeanty keeps it up at this pace, it will be hard for him not to be a Heisman Trophy Winner.
Very Tight Race
The race for the Heisman Trophy is going to be very tight. Along with Jeanty and Travis Hunter, Cam Ward of the Miami Hurricanes and Jalen Milroe of the Alabama Crimson Tide will also be in the conversation as well. A couple of weeks ago, Texas Longhorns quarterback Quinn Ewers was in the conversation until he got injured.
Ashton Jeanty of the Boise State Broncos could be the best running back in college football since Derrick Henry of the Alabama Crimson Tide, Ezekiel Elliott of the Ohio State Buckeyes, or Saquon Barkley of the Penn State Nittany Lions. There will be a lot of upset Boise State fans if Jeanty doesn’t win the Heisman Trophy if he keeps this pace up.
