After tightly sealing his mouth on virtually any and every topic known to man, Bill Belichick suddenly has a pretty outspoken opinion on everything. And it is getting better and better.
Much of the news cycle over the past week or so concerns the team movement of a certain Las Vegas Raiders receiver, former Green Bay Packer and 3 x All Pro, Davante Adams.
Davante Adams Looking For An Exit From Sin City
After requesting a trade last week, the Fresno State alum was kept out of last week’s drudging at the hands of divisional foes, the Denver Broncos. With no more news to report as of yet, many are wondering what the hold up is on Adams finding a new home.
For many players and teams it would make sense to sit down and negotiate; find common ground and see if they are willing to come to a compromise that keeps them on the team and satisfied.
In this case however, with a rebuilding Raiders team and a disgruntled, somewhat disruptive, and out-of-his-prime Davante Adams, one would imagine the only thing holding up an imminent trade is the compensation.
Belichick, for one, believes that it could well be the case that Las Vegas is holding out for far too much draft capital in exchange for an ageing, expensive player, per Adam Schefter.

Bill Belichick Pushes Back On Reported Trade Compensation For The Raiders
On Belichick’s new Underdog YouTube series, “Coach”, he, Michael Lombardi and Matt Patricia discussed the current Davante Adams trade situation. And sure to say the 8 x Super Bowl winning coach had some choice words to say about the Raiders’ trade expectations.
“Not for a second round pick, which supposedly is what they’re asking for. I don’t see how anybody’s going to give up a second round pick for him. You’d have to feel like this guy – Adams – is going to take us to the promised land and he’s going to get us over the hump this year, because he’s also got a big salary.
Michael Lombardi follows up with an excellent point, in which he notes that the Raiders have no leverage, as the only currently interested team is the New York Jets, who look poised to reunite their star QB with his former #1 wideout back in Green Bay.
Indeed, another drawback for the last placed team in the AFC West is that Adams has a humongous salary – one that is set to account for $44 million against the cap in each of the 2025 and 2026 seasons.
Would the Jets, or indeed any other team, be willing to give up a 2nd round pick and that kind of cap space for a declining player, who whilst can still surely be very productive, is not the elite, All-Pro caliber player he was 2 years ago? Seems unlikely.
