Bill Belichick has been ripping the New England Patriots coaching staff, specifically Jerod Mayo numerous times now. There is a bit of a media beef going on between the legendary coach and his former teams’ staff that does not seem to be going away.
It started with Mayo calling his own players ‘soft’ and since then Belichick has been taking many shots at the coaching staff. Mayo brushed it all away recently, but Belichick seems to not be letting it go.

Belichick continued the back and forth between himself and the Patriots coaches saying:

“I don’t know how many more of those are coming down the line for the Patriots,” Belichick said of a winnable game. “And the Jets, for that matter.”
He continued by saying that this team has tons of issues that need to be addressed moving forward after their 1-6 start:
“But boy, the Patriots got a lot of questions to answer,” Belichick continued. “Between the head coach, and the atmosphere, and who’s soft and who’s not soft.”
Lombardi called the Patriots a “kindler” and “gentler” program. The former general manager didn’t mean it as a compliment.
“When you ride bicycles in the locker room, I don’t know how you can pretend you’re not soft,” Lombardi said.
The former Patriots coach said that calling out players publicly never works:
“When you criticize your team publicly like that, it doesn’t always go over well,” Belichick said.
The Patriots are on their worst losing streak since the 1990s and they are in desperate need of a win against the Jets on Sunday. This team needs to be better on defense for their rookie quarterback.
It seems that Mayo does not have major job security, an if the team feels that he is not the right one for the job now that they have a very solid rookie quarterback they may move on to an offensive head coach next season.
There will be many elite offensive minds that should be available in the offseason, and have the team does not show any signs of life soon, this may be a one-and-done year for Mayo.
