NFL legend Bill Belichick has reportedly already made his pick for his next coaching job when he makes his return to the sidelines in 2025. The growing reports are all saying that Bill will be the new head coach of the Jacksonville Jaguars after the team is set to fire Doug Pederson. Multiple reports came out before week 11 that Pederson was just about to get fired, and now, it is almost certain that he will be.
Bill Belichick Has Chose Jacksonville As His Next Destination
Belichick has had a long relationship with the team’s general manager Trent Baalke, and there have been reports all season long that Bill would be interested in that job. Owner Shad Khan would likely give Bill all the keys to the castle, and having Trevor Lawrence would create a lot of interest in Bill to be the next head coach of the team. Ahead of the season, the owner was candid about his thoughts that this roster is the best the team has ever had:
“Before the season started, team owner Shad Khan said, ‘This is the best team the Jaguars have ever assembled. Let’s prove it by winning now.’
The team is far from that, as they started the year 2-9, the worst record of the NFL. Ahead of the team’s week 11 matchup, multiple reports came out saying that if the team got crushed by the Detroit Lions, Pederson would be fired within the week:
Per the report:
Recent history appears to be on the way to repeating itself in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars, mired in a miserable rut after losing four of their last five games, might be looking at another regime change for 2025, and sources say a dramatic move could come as soon as this week, pending the results of Sunday’s game against the Lions.
After the game, Pederson was asked if he thought he would be getting fired:
“I can’t control that. Listen, I’ve been around this league a long time. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen obviously. But at the same time, I have a job to do,” Pederson said.
While Pederson may not get fired within the next couple of days, it is almost certain that he will not be the coach for 2025. Bill is the reported favorite to be the next head coach:
“Now, what about the guy who put together the best team ever assembled — general manager Trent Baalke? I’ve talked to several people throughout the league and there’s a belief in some circles he could potentially survive into next year as part of a package deal that would reunite him with someone he worked with back in 1998 and 1999 with the New York Jets. That coach is available, he’s won a few Super Bowls. His name is Bill Belichick.”

There are a lot of reasons why Bill would go there, as he could have full control of the team, and they have a very solid quarterback that is in need of a resurgence. The division is okay, but there are not any great teams to be afraid of.
Bill may want other options as well, so it may depend on how the teams finish off their season. Bill may have a couple of options when the season is finished, but at the moment, the reports are saying that the Jaguars are the top contender to get the legendary coach.
