Bill Belichick is assumed to be returning to the NFL to coach in the 2025 season, and while he has not made any official announcements, he has been open about wanting to coach again at some point.
The Former New England Patriots head coach has apparently locked in on one of the coaching jobs that is set to open, and many reports are coming out that it is almost as good as done. While there could be many teams to need Belichick’s leadership, Bill has locked into one of the coaching jobs.
Bill Belichick Will Be The Jacksonville Jaguars Head Coach
The reports about Belichick are all centered around taking over coaching duties for the Jacksonville Jaguars. While the Jaguars had a lot of hype going into the year, they are sitting at 2-9 and at the very bottom of the NFL:
“Before the season started, team owner Shad Khan said, ‘This is the best team the Jaguars have ever assembled. Let’s prove it by winning now.’
There were many reports that came out this past week, that Pederson is set to be fired within the season:
Per the report:
Recent history appears to be on the way to repeating itself in Jacksonville.
The Jaguars, mired in a miserable rut after losing four of their last five games, might be looking at another regime change for 2025, and sources say a dramatic move could come as soon as this week, pending the results of Sunday’s game against the Lions.
After the game, Pederson was asked if he thought he would be getting fired:
“I can’t control that. Listen, I’ve been around this league a long time. If it’s going to happen, it’s going to happen obviously. But at the same time, I have a job to do,” Pederson said.
While the firing has not gone down just yet, everyone around the organization thinks that it will be Belichick to take up the job for 2025. Per Dianna Russini of The Athletic, there is tons of talk around the league that Bill is going to come back to the NFL to coach for the Jaguars:
“Let’s get into this because there’s a lot of chatter about Bill Belichick taking that job,” Russini said. “I can tell you that Belichick certainly has his eye on this Jacksonville opening. This is an organization that has tons of respect for Belichick. They’ve got a good relationship already.”
Mike Florio had the same message, and according to these reports, Bill is heading to Jacksonville for 2025:
“Now, what about the guy who put together the best team ever assembled — general manager Trent Baalke? I’ve talked to several people throughout the league and there’s a belief in some circles he could potentially survive into next year as part of a package deal that would reunite him with someone he worked with back in 1998 and 1999 with the New York Jets. That coach is available, he’s won a few Super Bowls. His name is Bill Belichick.”

It is additionally important to note that Bill has ties to the team and specifically, to the GM Trent Baalke who both worked together.
While nothing is official just yet, all the reports are saying this is the worst-kept secret that Bill is going to take over. Belichick could certainly turn the team around with Trevor Lawrence, and that defense. While there are other candidates to get the legendary coach, the Jaguars are at the very top of the list.
