North Carolina Tar Heels head football coach Bill Belichick probably did not think that he would be such a hot topic before he even coached his first game for the university when he took the position late last year. The six-time Super Bowl champion has not been on a sideline in game action since he was fired by the New England Patriots following the 2023 NFL season, but now finds himself at the center of many college football headlines.
Unfortunately, the headlines he has been making have had very little to do with football and everything to do with his relationship. As many fans are aware, the 73-year-old Belichick is currently dating Jordon Hudson, a 24-year-old former college cheerleader who has made it a habit of inserting herself into the legendary coach’s business dealings, to the detriment of his public image.
Jordon Hudson Has Cost Bill Belichick Multiple Opportunities
Belichick and Hudson’s relationship has been public knowledge since 2024, though the couple reportedly starting dating in 2023, during his final season with the Patriots. The 49-year age difference between the couple has been the butt of many jokes, especially on Netflix’s roast of Tom Brady that saw the former New England coach catching strays from his former players.
But now, things are not as funny. Belichick instructed any emails sent to him by North Carolina also be forwarded to Hudson even though she is not an employee of the university. As the so-called head of “Belichick Media,” Hudson and the Tar Heels coach believe that any correspondence should run through her so that he can better maximize his time.
The problem, though, is that the 24-year-old does not seem to be qualified to be in such an important position. Her recent behavior during Belichick’s interview with CBS caused the network to cancel their second interview with him, which will do promotion for his new book no favors. Furthermore, her insistence in being heavily involved in the filming of HBO’s “Hard Knocks” when they agreed to film the Tar Heels this year led that network to scrap the project.
Kelly Stafford, Wife of Los Angeles Rams QB Matthew Stafford, Says Bill Belichick’s Relationship Is Fair Game
Over the last couple of weeks especially, there have been many criticisms directed at Belichick, Hudson, and their relationship. Kelly Stafford, the wife of Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, believes that these comments are fair given the public nature of the relationship.
During her podcast, “The Morning After,” Stafford agreed with her co-host that Hudson’s behavior during the CBS interview was completely unacceptable. That being said, she also stated that the couple does not have to answer questions about their relationship if they do not want to.
“You never really saw him much in the social media platform stuff, and now he’s everywhere with her. Right? I do think there is a little bit of responsibility in knowing that – for her – knowing that questions are going to be asked, because they are so public with their relationship.”
“I think it’s fair game both ways, in a way. If she doesn’t want to talk about it, then they don’t have to talk about it.”
Stafford makes a good point: they do not have to talk about their private lives if they do not want to. However, given the nature of Hudson’s behavior and the legendary status Belichick holds, it is also fair game for people to wonder and ask those questions.
