A report claimed that Jordon Hudson, girlfriend of North Carolina head coach Bill Belichick, had been banned from the school’s football facilities. That news spread fast, especially with Hudson’s growing presence around the program. But now, the university is clearing the air.
In a statement released Friday, UNC firmly pushed back. “While Jordon Hudson is not an employee at the University or Carolina Athletics, she is welcome to the Carolina Football Facilities,” the school said.
That puts to rest a report from Meadowlark Media’s Pablo Torre, who suggested Hudson had been barred from team spaces due to concerns about her influence.
Torre, citing a source close to Belichick, said there were “deep worries” about Hudson’s impact on the coach’s image and the program. That source told him, “There is deep worry for how detrimental Jordon can be for not just North Carolina but Bill’s legacy, reputation.” The quote quickly fueled speculation, especially given how visible Hudson has become during Belichick’s early months at UNC.
While Hudson doesn’t hold a formal role with the program, her presence hasn’t gone unnoticed. According to The Athletic’s Matt Baker, she once directed UNC’s social media team on how to frame the hiring of Belichick’s son, Steve, as defensive coordinator. That raised some eyebrows internally, though the school hasn’t publicly criticized her involvement.
Adding to the swirl, TMZ Sports reported in April that some within the athletic department had grown uneasy about Hudson’s role. The concern grew after Belichick’s interview with CBS Sunday Morning, where Hudson interjected when questions turned personal. She has become a fixture around the coach, drawing attention off the field.
Despite the noise, UNC has drawn a clear line. “Jordon will continue to manage all activities related to Coach Belichick’s personal brand outside of his responsibilities for Carolina Football and the University,” the school said. That clarifies her position and pushes back on any suggestion that she’s out of bounds.
