I just love Mondays, don’t you? The weeks new power rankings and all the over reactions to what took place on Saturday and Sunday. There’s nothing quite like Monday morning quarterbacking. But as you all know, my favorite part of Mondays are the power rankings. We already did the King, SEC, so let’s do the second deepest in the country now.
#1 Texas
Texas is back! When Quinn Ewers is healthy, this team is unbeatable. They shut out Oklahoma in the Red River Shootout for the first time since 1965. They almost beat Bama with a backup QB. When this team is clicking no team in this conference can touch them. Playoff contender?
#2 Kansas
Yes, I know they just lost a very close game to the third ranked team in this conference, but they did that with their back up quarterback. If Jalon Daniels would have played the whole game, the Jayhawks would have won. Lance Liepold is by far the coach of the year taking this Kansas team from the bottom all the way to the top. Nobody wants to play KU right now.

#3 TCU
The Horned Frogs are a damn good football team, beating everyone they’ve faced so far; and Max Duggan looking good doing it. Sonny Dykes really has the Horned Frogs flying all over the field. I think they’re securely in the top 3 in this conference and I expect them to play a big bowl game at the end of the season, but I don’t think they’ll win the conference.

#4 Oklahoma State
Well, Mike Gundy has the best team in Oklahoma by far, winning all their games by double-digit points so far. But, have they really played a great team yet? They played a couple good teams, but have they played a great team. I think we find out more about The Cowboys this week versus TCU. If they win this game they can move up in the power rankings.

#5 Texas Tech
Red Raiders have the best win in conference play, beating Texas, and they can play with anybody in this conference. They are a frisky team, but the carousel at quarterback will keep them around .500 to end the year. I do like the direction the Red Raiders are going in the future, though.

#6 Kansas State
I go back and forth on The Wildcats of the Little Apple, maybe they should be higher because they beat Tech, but sometimes their offense just doesn’t show up. They’ll score 41 game and then they won’t even score 17 the next. Adrian Martinez needs to be more consistent and so does the rest of the offense. With the bye week this week, maybe they put it all together as their toughest part of their schedule comes right after that. We will find out if they move up or down in the power rankings over the next month.
#7 Baylor
The Bears are just another solid team in the Big 12 conference. They win against the teams they should, and keep it close against the better teams. They need to prove that they can beat one or two of those better teams, though. Blake Shapen has been great at quarterback, and Dave Aranda has his defense playing great as well. They just need a signature win or two to move up in the power rankings.

#8 Iowa State
Matt Campbell is a hell of a football coach. His defense plays great, holds teams to not a lot of points. Although Iowa state may have the most boring offense in the Big 12. With three of their six games not even scoring 14 points. If somehow Matt Campbell stays next year and doesn’t get a better job, Cyclones could be high in the power rankings next year. They might give one of the higher ranked teams in this conference a scare, but I don’t know if they have the offense to beat them.

#9 West Virginia
I really want this team to be good. Neil Brown is holding this team back. they have all the weapons on the offense, defense isn’t terrible. The coaching is really holding this team back. A lucky bounce here, a lucky bounce there, this team could easily be 5-1, but players win you games, coaching loses you games, College football is better when West Virginia is high in the power rankings and high in the AP Poll.
