Is Quinshon Judkins or Ollie Gordon II the best running back prospect in the 2025 NFL Draft?
Ohio State is in one of the most unique positions in all of college football…could the Buckeyes have the first two tailbacks off the board once the 2025 NFL Draft rolls around?
Most believed Ohio State’s TreVeyon Henderson would be the first running back taken off the board in the 2024 NFL Draft should he have declared. However Henderson announced that he’d return for one more season in Columbus, and just weeks later, the man who many tab as the best halfback in all of college football, Quinshon Judkins left Ole Miss and entered the transfer portal before ending up at Ohio State.
Will Judkins and Henderson playing together help or hurt their 2025 NFL Draft stock?
2025 NFL Draft Pre-Season Running Back Rankings
- Quinshon Judkins (Ohio State) — Tabbed as the best tailback in college football heading into 2024, it appears that the only thing that can stand in the way of Quinshon Judkins being the first RB off the board in 2025 is his teammate, TreVeyon Henderson eating into his touches, this season.
- Ollie Gordon II (Oklahoma State) — Ollie Gordon appears to be the best chance of anyone overtaking Quinshon Judkins as the first RB selected in next April’s draft. Many experts’ favorite to win the Heisman Trophy heading into 2024, Ollie Gordon II will undoubtedly put up generational numbers, this season…health permitting.
- Ashton Jeanty (Boise State) — One of the biggest wild cards heading into 2024 is Boise State’s Ashton Jeanty. The best receiving back in the draft isn’t just a third-down expert, but a bonafide three-down back that just happens to potentially be the best receiver on his team.
- Raheim Sanders (South Carolina) — If you’re a defender with South Carolina on your schedule in 2024, good luck tackling Rocket Sanders. Not quite Derrick Henry, but who is? Rocket may be the closest thing we’ve seen to the former Alabama product (playing style wise). Sitting at a shade above 6-foot and over 230-pounds, Mr. Sanders is not someone you want running downhill against you.
- Nick Singleton (Penn State) — Like Ashton Jeanty, Nick Singleton is a three-down back. Not quite the receiver Jeanty is, Singleton may be a slightly better pure runner, with just a shade less of the explosiveness of the aforementioned Boise State star.
- TreVeyon Henderson (Ohio State)
- Omarion Hampton (North Carolina)
- Donovan Edwards (Michigan)
- Jaydn Ott (California)
- Roman Hemby (Maryland)
