One of the biggest stars of the Cincinnati Bengals defense is no shy when it comes to talking about upcoming opponents. Last week, Cam Taylor-Britt became infamous with his remarks leading up to the Week 2 game with Kansas City. Then, he dissed rookie receiver Xavier Worthy by alluding the rookie was all speed and that was it.
As the dust settled, Taylor-Britt backed up that bit of smack talk despite the Bengals losing. Now, leading up to the Week 3 game with the Washington Commanders, he’s back at it.
Cam Taylor-Britt Provides More Bulletin Board Material Before Week 3
At his locker after practice on Thursday, Taylor-Britt commented on Jayden Daniels’ game:
Bengals CB Cam Taylor-Britt broke down Commanders rookie QB Jayden Daniels’ game: “They don’t make him do a lot. They keep it really simple for him. Nice college offense. (Kliff) Kingsbury’s the OC.” pic.twitter.com/CeJKATlzmF

Taylor-Britt is growing into his own as a star for the Bengals and he is not afraid to let opponents know. From his overall solid play to his ridiculous interception last week, the Bengals’ CB1 has stepped up into the role without a hitch.
The Bengals have a crucial matchup with the Commanders on Monday Night Football and they’re feeling confident. Through two weeks, Daniels has thrown for 410 yards but he has yet to throw a touchdown pass. On the ground, however, Daniels has amassed 132 yards and has scored twice.
On the surface, Taylor-Britt is onto something. Daniels is completing 75.5% of his passes. He has the lowest aDOT of all starting quarterbacks in the NFL at 4.6. They keep it simple for the young quarterback.
Secondary is the Strength
Despite playing Patrick Mahomes, the Cincinnati Bengals have the second-best passing defense in the NFL, behind only the Tennessee Titans. Is it a tiny sample size? Yes. Is their run defense a bit of a liability so offenses haven’t needed to throw the ball? Also yes.
However, Taylor-Britt has been the anchor for a much-improved secondary. The signing of Vonn Bell continues to be underrated not because he’s out there making All-Pro plays like Jessie Bates did but because he’s another coach on the field.
The communication in the secondary is vastly improved. Last year, they allowed far too many explosive plays through the air. This year, they’ve allowed just one on a perfect throw from the best quarterback in the NFL.
If Xavier Worthy went off everybody would have come back to this tweet to clown him so instead let’s come back and say Worthy had 2 catches for 17 yards and Cam Taylor-Britt did this

The Bengals are 0-2 for the third straight season but in each previous instance, they went out and won in Week 3. With a matchup against the Commanders on tap, they have a great opportunity to get back on track before having to play the Carolina Panthers, another expected victory.
However, as they’ve learned with the New England Patriots in Week 1, you can’t overlook anyone in the NFL. The Bengals are expected to get back to the playoffs and contend for the Super Bowl. Starting off 0-3 would make things significantly harder, especially when two of those losses are two perceived bad teams.
If Cincinnati can get back to 2-2 before Week 5, that matchup with the Baltimore Ravens looms even larger than already believed. Sure, with Burrow, all things are possible. However, they’ll need to get it together quickly if they want to get back to winning the division and making a run.
That starts with the defense and Cam Taylor-Britt.
