The Cincinnati Bengals are heading into the 2024 season expecting to get right back into their 2021-2022 form. In back-to-back years they went to the AFC Championship Game and the Super Bowl. Last season was derailed largely in-part to injuries.
Cincinnati will kick off their season at home against the New England Patriots, however, their offense is going to look a lot different than many expected.
The Cincinnati Bengals Forced To Make Roster Move Ahead Of 2024 Season Opener
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network:
With Tee Higgins (hamstring) expected to miss Sunday’s opener vs. New England and Ja’Marr Chase still listed as questionable amidst contract talks, the Bengals have elevated Kendrick Pryor from the practice squad.
It is extremely possible Cincinnati will be without two of their top receivers against the Patriots on Sunday. Ja’Marr Chase’s contract situation remains uncertain, while Tee Higgins’ hamstring isn’t coperating at all.
“A deal is in reach,” Chase said. He also mentioned he would be willing to play even if an extension didn’t get done. However, who knows how much he will be able to play after holding out nearly all off-season.
Although Taylor would only say “we’ll see” about Chase’s participation, the three-time Pro Bowler said it would be a game-time decision.
Elevating another wide receiver the day before doesn’t bode well for Higgins’ or Chase’s ability to play. The Bengals may be forced to rely on the rushing attack more than expected.
New England and Cincinnati will kick off at 1:00 PM ET.
