Ben Johnson, the new head coach of the Chicago Bears, was recently praised by Devin Hester, wide receiver for the team. In a recent appearance on ‘Up & Adams’, Hester remarked that he was truly happy that the team decided to go with Johnson as a head coaching candidate, simply because of his focus on offense.
Johnson, before this, has spent quite a few years with the Detroit Lions in various coaching positions, but never head coach. In the 2024 NFL season, the quarterback was the offensive coordinator for the Lions and clearly did a great job at that.
“I love that pick that they got OC from Detroit. That’s the type of offense we need. That’s why I say, bring in another running back with this offense, that dual threat that you have in the backfield. It’s going to open up the passing game. And if he can bring in that type of offense, the defense will feed off that.” Devin Hester said about Ben Johnson in the ‘Up & Adams’ show.

Ben Johnson seems to have many tricks up his sleeve in order to ensure that the Chicago Bears perform at their best in the 2025 NFL season. The Bears performed poorly in the previous season and finished fourth in the NFC North after winning only five games and losing 12. In the last game of the season, the Chicago Bears played against the Green Bay Packers and won. However, the success was too late for the Bears to make it to the playoffs.

Ben Johnson Already Putting Pressure On Chicago Bears
Meanwhile, Ben Johnson seems to be already adding pressure to the players in the Chicago Bears locker-room as per recent reports. Perhaps the person who is feeling the utmost pressure is none other than quarterback Caleb Williams.

In a recent video put out by the Chicago Bears, Williams and other players spoke out on their initial impressions of Ben Johnson. Apparently, Johnson brought out plenty of aggression in the players, especially Caleb Williams. While Williams is not exactly used to this type of coaching style from anyone, he seems to be open about this challenge of working under a highly active coach.

Ben Johnson started out his coaching career with Boston College as a graduate assistant. He got his first NFL gig with the Miami Dolphins as an offensive assistant. After working with the Dolphins for a long time, Johnson managed to work with the Detroit Lions before eventually landing a head-coaching gig with the Chicago Bears.
