It’s no secret Caleb Williams hasn’t lit the NFL on fire, as compared to Washington Commanders’ Jayden Daniels. In this regard, an analysis suggested pairing the Chicago Bears quarterback with a former USC coach to speed up his improvement.
The Bears’ lackluster start to the season has left many questioning the development of Williams. One of the primary factors contributing to his difficulties may be the lack of experience on the team’s coaching staff in working with such a young quarterback.

Chicago’s historical track record in nurturing quarterback talent has also been a point of concern. As it stands, the organization has not demonstrated the same level of consistency and stability in the position as other successful franchises, such as the Green Bay Packers, who have seamlessly transitioned from Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers and now to quarterback Jordan Love.
In contrast, the team has cycled through numerous general managers, head coaches, and quarterbacks in recent years, creating an unstable environment that may hinder the development of young talents like Williams. This lack of continuity and expertise could potentially jeopardize Williams’ chances of becoming the long-term answer under center for Chicago.
As the Bears continue to navigate through their current struggles, the spotlight will remain firmly fixed on Williams and his ability to adapt to the NFL game. The organization’s ability to provide him with the necessary support and guidance will be crucial in determining whether he can overcome the challenges he has faced so far and fulfill his potential as the team’s franchise quarterback.
NFL Analysis Urges Chicago Bears To Hire Lincoln Riley as Caleb Williams’ Offensive Coordinator

One of several ways to speed up Williams’ development is to hire a new offensive coordinator. According to Bleacher Report’s Alex Kay, that guy is former USC coach, Lincoln Riley.
If Riley and USC do part ways—a fate that seems more probable with each disheartening loss, in addition to recent NCAA sanctions—he may need to make a pit stop in the NFL to rehabilitate his status. Linking back up with Williams could be exactly what both the coach and player need to rejuvenate their respective careers.
Riley would be a slam-dunk hire for the Bears. He’s overseen some of college football’s top offenses since he began coordinating under Bob Stoops back in 2015 and has continued to call plays since becoming a head coach for the first time in 2017. He’s developed three of the last seven Heisman winners—all quarterbacks—and clearly knows how to get the most out of a signal-caller.
Riley could be a transformative hire for the Bears to help Williams reach his full potential. As the former head coach at USC and Oklahoma, Riley has a proven track record of developing star quarterbacks and overseeing elite offenses. Reuniting with Williams, whom he coached to a Heisman Trophy, would provide the young quarterback with a familiar system and a coach with the expertise to maximize his talents.

If Riley and USC part ways, the Bears should make a strong push to bring him in as their offensive coordinator, as his pedigree and Williams’ familiarity could be the catalyst needed to revive Chicago’s struggling offense.
