“It’s The First Time” Bears Make Franchise-Altering Move After Loss To Lions; First Time In 100 Years

The Chicago Bears suffered a miserable loss to the Detroit Lions on Thanksgiving.  Chicago put themselves in position to win at the game was coming to an end, but poor time management led to Chicago taking a three point loss and one timeout with them on the plane.

The next day, Chicago did something they’ve never done in their 100 year history.

One day after Chicago’s 23-20 loss to the Lions on Thursday, the Bears fired head coach Matt Eberflus:

Offensive coordinator Thomas Brown will take over as interim head coach, per the reports.

It is the first time in Chicago’s 100 plus-year history that the franchise has fired a head coach midseason.

The move came after Eberflus didn’t take accountability for the Bears’ clock management at the end of their Thanksgiving Day loss in Detroit.

The Bears ran the clock from 32 seconds down to six seconds with one timeout left — which resulted in quarterback Caleb Williams throwing an incomplete pass to wideout Rome Odunze as time expired.
