Detroit Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson was one of the biggest names for potential head coaching jobs last NFL offseason. He interviewed for some of the head coach openings. One of the potential destinations Johnson could have gone to last offseason was the Washington Commanders.

However, Johnson decided to stay with the Lions. He was one of the reasons why Detroit went to the NFC Championship Game last season. Ben Johnson is another reason why the Lions are off to a 6-1 start this season. They have one of the best offenses in the NFL this season.
NFL Network’s Albert Breer Reported That Detroit Lions Offensive Coordinator Ben Johnson Wanted the Chicago Bears Job Last Offseason

NFL Network’s Albert Breer reported that Lions offensive coordinator Ben Johnson wanted the Chicago Bears job last offseason. Well, Chicago never fired Matt Eberflus. They drafted quarterback Caleb Williams number one overall.
Also, the Bears are 4-3 this season. If Chicago misses the playoffs this season, there is a very good chance that the Bears fire Eberflus. If that were to happen, would it mean that Johnson would leave Detroit to go to Chicago? This would be something to potentially watch for this upcoming NFL offseason.

Interesting insight from Breer. Ben Johnson’s ambition could reshape the Bears’ coaching landscape if it had happened.

The Bears can’t catch a break. Thst would have been a great hire for them and Caleb.

Bears fans praying this is true but I doubt it. Can’t believe everything that you hear.

He’ll be there next year. It’ll be Ben vs Dan for the next decade in the NFC North.

Some Chicago Bears fans wish he could be the head coach of the team for the rest of the season instead of Matt Eberflus. Interestingly, Ben Johnson would want to stay in the NFC North division. Not many people would want to make that move. If Johnson became the next head coach of the Chicago Bears, they would be heading in the right direction with Caleb Williams and others also.
