A former Super Bowl champion wide receiver for the Baltimore Ravens had a strong critique of President Donald Trump this week. Trump has been under fire this week amid his tariff policies going into effect. Steel and aluminum imports are going up 25% amid major layoffs in the United States.
While many are worried about a recession or stagflation, others connected to Trump’s administration believe these policies will have better long-term effects. Senator Tommy Tuberville recently defended the tariffs in an op-ed, arguing that they will lead to better jobs in the US.
President Donald Trump admitted earlier this year that Americans could “feel pain” as his administration enacts policies that he believes will be better for the long-term.
However, not everyone is buying the argument.
Former Baltimore Ravens WR has a critique of Donald Trump

Former Ravens wide receiver Torrey Smith posted about his concerns on X, saying that Trump is off to a slow start.
“Trump is off to a 💩 start,” Smith posted. “I’m trying to find the wins. I want the country to do well. I simply don’t see any motivating signs right now.”

Posters on X had varied replies to Smith.
“You can listen to our episodes to know we aren’t Trump fanboys… But being mad at the guy who found billions in horrible spending rather than the people that appropriated it is wild,” one poster responded. “That’s like being mad at the investigator for telling you you were robbed rather than being mad at the robber. A Ukraine cease fire is coming so people can stop dying. There was no movement before. And the tariffs…
“It’s an incomplete grade. Let’s see how it ends. The last time he re-negotiated, people yelled the same things and when it was done, we ended up better than before. And Greenland… It’s more important than you think for the future. And not for the land itself. But… There are some not good things as well… Like with all administrations, there’s good and bad. Can always come on the show to talk about it if you want.”
“Hes divided the country so much that he doesn’t have to do anything beneficial. At this point, its a “our side vs their side” thing as opposed to “let’s do what’s best for everyone” thing. Trump fully understands that division is the source of his power. He exploits it,” posted another.
“Lower prices, ending war, cutting government waste, in what, seven weeks? Stop letting others do your thinking for you,” suggested another.
