Although the Baltimore Ravens didn’t end up making the Super Bowl last season, they still have what it takes to win it all with the roster they have. As it stands, early projections for the Lamar Jackson-led squad is looking good ahead of the 2024-25 season.
The 2023 season marked the Ravens’ 28th year in the NFL and their 16th under head coach John Harbaugh. The team improved from a 10–7 record the previous year, finishing the season with a remarkable 13–4 record. This performance earned them the AFC North title and the No. 1 seed in the playoffs, a significant achievement for the franchise.
Despite facing numerous injuries, including to key players like J.K. Dobbins and Marlon Humphrey, the Ravens demonstrated resilience throughout the season. They clinched their playoff spot in Week 15 and made a strong postseason run, defeating the Houston Texans in the Divisional Round before falling to the Kansas City Chiefs in the AFC Championship Game.
Jackson had an outstanding season, earning his second NFL MVP award and leading the Ravens’ offense effectively. The team’s defense also excelled, leading the league in sacks, points allowed per game, and turnovers, showcasing a dominant performance on that side of the ball.
The Ravens’ remarkable journey last season included notable victories against several playoff contenders, solidifying their status as a formidable team in the league. Their ability to secure a playoff berth amidst adversity highlights the depth and talent within the organization, setting a promising foundation for future seasons.
Baltimore Ravens’ Projected Record Ahead of 2024-25 Season
Similar to the Chiefs, Baltimore is projected to end the upcoming season with a good record, as predicted by Cynthia Frelund in an NFL analysis posted on the league’s official website.
-
Ceiling: 12.4
-
Floor: 8.3
-
FanDuel over/under: 10.5
The Ravens’ ceiling might look lower than you’d expect, but that is because the AFC North is my toughest-rated division this season (meaning more in-division games are closer to 50/50 contests) and Baltimore plays the first-place schedule, where its three unique opponents were all first-place finishers in their respective divisions last season, as opposed to cellar dwellers (this is part of why the Bengals slide ahead of the Browns and the Steelers).
And because the Ravens’ quarterback is so special, we need a fun Lamar Jackson NGS note to start the season: Jackson has gained +1,768 rushing yards over expected since entering the league in 2018, +399 more RYOE than the next-closest player over that span, Browns RB Nick Chubb (+1,369).
The Ravens’ 2024 schedule features a challenging slate, including seven standalone games and ten matchups against playoff teams from the previous season. They open against Chiefs, with significant games against the Cowboys and Buffalo Bills early on.
Jackson’s performance will be crucial, especially as they aim for a strong finish in December against tough opponents. If he succeeds in leading the Ravens, they can make that projection about their record a reality.
