Baltimore Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson has emerged as one of the most dynamic and captivating players in the NFL. Turns out, though, he has a different person in mind when talking about the best dual threat QB in league history.
Jackson’s unique skillset has redefined the quarterback position, forcing defenses to completely rethink their strategies when facing the Ravens. His combination of electrifying speed, pinpoint accuracy, and uncanny field vision makes him a nightmare to game-plan against, as he can hurt opponents both on the ground and through the air.
While Jackson’s running has drawn frequent comparisons to past dual-threat legends like Michael Vick and Randall Cunningham, his sustained excellence and continued development as a passer set him apart. Not only has he shattered single-season rushing records for a quarterback, but he has also steadily improved his decision-making and touchdown-to-interception ratio each year, cementing his status as a true dual-threat maestro.
As the Ravens continue to build around Jackson’s exceptional talents, the two-time MVP appears poised to author an even more illustrious chapter in his career. With his dynamic playmaking ability, unparalleled athleticism, and growing maturity as a pocket passer, the Ravens star is well on his way to becoming the most accomplished dual-threat quarterback the NFL has ever seen.
Baltimore Ravens’ Lamar Jackson Honors Washington Redskins Icon Doug Williams as Best Dual-Threat QB in NFL History
While Jackson himself is a great QB, there’s another person that came into his mind when talking about the position. In a tweet he posted on his official X account and in an article written by Paolo Mariano for Athlon Sports, the Ravens star named Williams as his choice.

“On X, a football podcast posted an intriguing question: Cam Newton isn’t available. Who is the best dual-threat QB in NFL history?
Jackson was game enough to answer by posting a GIF of Washington Redskins icon Doug Williams,” Mariano wrote.
Williams was the first African-American quarterback drafted in the first round by the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in 1978. He later won Super Bowl XXII with the Washington Redskins, becoming the first Black quarterback to both start and win a Super Bowl. Williams was named Super Bowl MVP after throwing a then-record four touchdowns in the second quarter.
The upcoming season will be another opportunity for Jackson to cement his place in NFL history as one of the league’s best QBs. Even if that’s the case, Williams will always have his place as one of the best players to ever step onto the field.
