Baltimore Ravens: Lamar Jackson Expected To Lose 4.44 40-Time Offensive Weapon

The Baltimore Ravens are going to do whatever it takes to get over the hump in the AFC Playoffs.  Having an MVP caliber QB in Lamar Jackson and a stout defense just hasn’t been enough recently.

The weapons the Ravens have surrounded Jackson with in recent years has come under scrutiny.  However, the Ravens addressed that in a big way last off-season by adding Odell Beckham Jr.  Going into 2024, OBJ is no longer on the roster and the team is likely heading into the regular season with Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and Nelson Agholor as their top three wide receivers.

However, one weapon may not even see the field for Baltimore.

Lamar Jackson May Not See Baltimore Ravens Breakout Candidate On The Roster Come Week One

According to Scott Davis of The Sporting News:

The Ravens seemingly have four receivers penciled in for the final roster: Zay Flowers, Rashod Bateman, Nelson Agholor, and rookie Devontez Walker.

There may be two open spots beyond that, and The Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec predicts they’ll go to Deontay Harty and Tylan Wallace.

Furthermore, Zrebiec labels breakout candidate Dayton Wade a “long shot” to make the final roster.

Wade, an undrafted receiver out of Ole Miss, was first mentioned by fullback Patrick Ricard as a potential breakout candidate. Ricard said he had been impressed by Wade’s route-running, hands, and business-like demeanor during OTAs.

Wade has also some impressive moments during training camp and preseason. Wade reportedly had “the play of the day” early in training camp when he hauled in a deep pass from rookie QB Devin Leary.

And though the Ravens’ first preseason game hardly had any noteworthy offensive action, Wade still led the team in receiving with four catches for 27 yards. However, Wade also had a bad drop that cost the team 14 yards.

If Wade is unable to make the roster, it could indicate depth at the wide receiver position that the team hasn’t seen in years.

Jackson and the Ravens are looking to start a dynasty of their own, could 2024 be the year?
