The Baltimore Ravens hire a new assistant coach
The Baltimore Ravens made a few big decisions this week. The team decided to use a non-exclusive franchise tag on MVP quarterback Lamar Jackson before Tuesday’s deadline. With their quarterback situation questionable ahead of the 2023 season, the Ravens announced a coaching change on Wednesday.
According to Aaron Wilson with KPRC, the Ravens hired Chuck Smith as their next outside linebackers coach.

According to Ryan Mink with the Baltimore Ravens, Smith is a former defensive end who has a little NFL coaching experience. He hasn’t been an in-season coach since 2010 when he coached the defensive line for the Tennessee Volunteers:
“Smith, who has gone by the nickname “Dr. Rush,” has regularly worked with draft eligible prospects and served as a training camp consultant for several NFL teams, including the Ravens in 2008. He was also the New York Jets’ pass rush specialist in 2009, the University of Tennessee’s defensive line coach in 2010 and the Cincinnati Bengals’ Bill Walsh Coaching Fellow during their 2015 OTAs and training camp.”
This will be a transition for Smith, as he has not been a regular season position coach for over a decade.
