A long time ago, the Cleveland Browns had a quarterback everyone in the city loved: Baker Mayfield. After he beat the Pittsburgh Steelers in the first round of the 2021 NFL playoffs, he joined Lebron James on the list of Cleveland’s most beloved athletes.
A year later, Mayfield had a season to forget, dealing with a shoulder injury for most of it. Then the Browns traded for Houston Texans quarterback Deshaun Watson, leaving Mayfield without a home.
Baker Mayfield Broke Cleveland Browns Fans

When Cleveland was considering trading for Watson, many Browns fans opposed the idea and didn’t want to move away from Mayfield.
The Cleveland Browns fanbase became divided in March 2022, with those who wanted to keep Mayfield and those who didn’t. This turned into a social media war, which continues to this day.
Whenever Watson played badly, 99% of the time, the Browns fans who didn’t want him went after the fans who did and talked about how great Mayfield was playing; the worst thing happened on Sunday when Watson left the Brown’s Week Seven loss to the Bengals with, an Achilles injury and fans started to cheer.

Many of the fans cheering were in charge of the Mayfield love and never wanted Watson in the first place, and they got the opportunity to make sure they told Watson how much they didn’t like him in one of the worst moments of his life.
Mayfield had no control over what happened to him in Cleveland, and he handled everything well. Still, the die-hard Cleveland Baker fans started a major problem within the Browns fanbase that has only worsened every season. Now that Watson will likely never play quarterback for the team again, seeing how they react to the new quarterback will be interesting.
