Bad Bunny’s half-time show next year is bound to be quite interesting, and among the most-watched for a number of reasons. The show has already gained massive popularity, even with the NFL season not even being halfway through. The NFL made the announcement of rapper Bad Bunny performing next year and clearly did not expect so much backlash.

For one, the show will be in Spanish, to which many reacted negatively. Meanwhile, a large percentage of people felt strongly against Bad Bunny himself, who has been pretty vocal about his dislike for President Trump’s policies, especially in handling ICE. While many feel that this upcoming half-time show is a deliberate move to divide the nation, renowned sports reporter Mina Kimes does not feel so.

“At this particular moment in American history, so many Latinos in this country are being targeted, harassed, families ripped apart. I live in Los Angeles and I’m seeing hard working people afraid to go to work and congregate. But while this is happening, to have the world’s biggest artist take the world’s biggest stage is itself, inherently radical more than maybe that’s the wrong word. It’s powerful, it shows people that they’re still represented and they still have some power and I don’t think that’s insignificant.” Mina Kimes said on ‘Pablo Torres Finds Out’.

Bad Bunny seems pretty excited to perform on one of the world’s biggest stages next year and is already doing his part to promote it. The Puerto Rican rapper last week appeared on ‘Saturday Night Live’, where he delivered part of his monologue in Spanish, where he announced his goal to stand up more for Latino people, especially in the United States at this moment in time.

Bad Bunny Was Not Only Contender For Half-Time Performer

Bad Bunny was not the only musical artist who was considered for the Super Bowl 2026 halftime show. According to reports, singer Adele was also on the list, along with Taylor Swift. Many fans definitely requested the league to consider Swift, and the NFL did so out of respect.

However, Taylor Swift reportedly had a list of demands that the league was simply not ready to fulfill. Swift wanted to be paid for her performance, unlike the other artists who have performed on the stage. She also wanted to promote her own music during the show, which the NFL flat-out disagreed with.
