The only question that was left in the 2022 CIAA football season was, will the Chowan Hawks win the CIAA championship in their first appearance or is the 5th time’s the charm for the Fayetteville State Broncos? The South Carolina State Bulldogs (1-2) of the MEAC traveled to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2) of the FBS level Southeastern Conference. This game was moved up from October 1 due to the potential arrival of Hurricane Ian. The Bulldogs were coming off a defeat from their rival the North Carolina A&T Aggies of the Big South Conference.
