The South Carolina State Bulldogs (1-2) of the MEAC traveled to take on the South Carolina Gamecocks (3-2) of the FBS level Southeastern Conference. This game was moved up from October 1 due to the potential arrival of Hurricane Ian. The Bulldogs were coming off a defeat from their rival the North Carolina A&T Aggies of the Big South Conference.
