The Wyoming Cowboys knocked off the undefeated Air Force Falcons on Friday night in Laramie behind a dominant performance from the Cowboys defense. The Cowboys won 17-14 and shut down the powerful Air Force Offense that led the nation in rushing. The University of Nebraska fired head coach Scott Frost on Sunday after a 45-42 loss at home to Georgia Southern and a disappointing 1-2 start to the season. When he was announced as head coach in 2018, Frost was hailed as the man that would bring Nebraska back to the glory days of the 1990s. However, things obviously didn’t play out that way. His tenure will be remembered for close losses and bad coaching decisions. Former Denver Broncos wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders announced his retirement from the NFL on Wednesday morning. The 35 year old enjoyed a 12 year career and played six years in Denver. His best years came in a Broncos uniform, where he totaled 5361 yards and 28 touchdowns. He ranks 10th in franchise history in receiving yards and 12th in receiving touchdowns. Wyoming quarterback Andrew Peasley was awarded Offensive Player of the Week and kicker John Hoyland won Special Teams Player of the Week. Peasley put in the best performance of his young Wyoming career. Hoyland had a career day as the Cowboys picked up their first win of the season. The Wyoming Cowboys won their home opener on Saturday afternoon against the Tulsa Golden Hurricane. The back and forth affair finished 40-37 in double overtime.  After a bad showing last week at Illinois the Cowboys bounced back to improve to 1-1 on the young season. The Denver Broncos running backs Javonte Willams and Melvin Gordon could provide plenty of production in 2022. Williams is coming off a rookie season where he amassed 903 yards and four rushing touchdowns, while Gordon totaled 918 yards and eight rushing touchdowns last year.
