The Arizona State Sun Devils Quarterbacks group is under new offensive management and it is full of battles to observe. Generally, while we don’t think about it, the back-up QB position is often overlooked–but vital for offensive continuity. The Sun Devils are going with Emory Jones– Florida transfer. Yet, who is going to be the back-up and 3rd string? There are a mixture of experience and youth on the roster. While it is not uncommon to see inexperienced 1st or 2nd year players grab hold of starting positions, it is tough to do when significant talent and experience are in…

The Arizona Wildcats are abundant in talent (both from its recruiting class and transfer portal) and geared for vast improvement. That gives them a significant chance at being a “dark horse” candidate for success within the Pac-12 South division and in the conference overall. There are multiple position groups that are poised for a great season, I reviewed some in Part I. I will move to two special position groups that will help out the Arizona Wildcats. Offensive Line With the Offensive Line, it is important to start the best five players to protect QB Jayden de Laura and give…

The Arizona Wildcats are gearing up for more wins and are looking to improve from last season in year two of the Jedd Fisch era. While the first year was filled with a lot of growing pains and a 1-11 record, there is renewed optimism and excitement. Thanks to a superb recruiting class and improvement in most, if not all, positions within the team – the Arizona Wildcats are looking to prove people wrong. The Arizona Wildcats Offense Quarterbacks After starting four different quarterbacks last season, Fisch may have the position in place for years to come, as the QB…

The Wide Receivers are a position group that the Denver Broncos are having deliberations on during Training Camp. It will come down to how many WRs they will want on the team and who will occupy those spots. Position Locks There are at least 4 players that are locks of being on the final roster. The Denver Broncos were certainly excited and dreaming of the impact that Bradley Chubb will provide since being drafted 5th overall in the 2018 NFL Draft out of North Caroline State. The Broncos picked up Bradley Chubb’s fifth year option, which will pay him $12.7 million this upcoming season. Has he done enough to earn a contract extension or is this a “prove it” year? The Run-Down Being paired with All-Pro and Super Bowl 50 MVP Von Miller, at the time, was going to be the talk of the AFC West for years to come. But fan-favorite and franchise beloved…

The look into the Arizona State Sun Devils secondary position group [defensive backs] will end with more review on the remaining players on the roster. These are going to be the “diamonds in the rough”, overlooked, and under-the-radar players that certainly have a chip on their shoulders, to play regularly. If you missed it, here is Part 1. Players (continued) Conner Lewis – Redshirt Sophomore from Phoenix, AZ. 6’ 2’’ 180lbs. Safety/Defensive back. *Side note: Lewis entered the transfer portal on October 22, 2021, but no update to transfer status. Highlights Research for stats during his short tenure in Tempe…

In my previous article, I analyzed the Offensive and Defensive groups of the Sun Devils team. But one group that should get some positive attention on them, is the Arizona State Secondary – defensive backs. Because, while the secondary may not be considered a strength of the team, those athletes have at least some opportunity and time during Summer and Fall practices to collectively improve and intensively prepare for the upcoming season. Repetition, attention to detail, and some form of coaching can attribute to improvement and (importantly) development. With the players – reps (in practice and possibly in-game) are present,…

It is approximately 45 days until the Arizona State Sun Devils kick off their season, against the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks on September 1, 2022. Conference Pre-Season Polls The Sun Devils have largely been picked to finish last or close to last within the South Division of the Pac-12 conference and between 9th to 11th overall –  according to multiple writers. For example: Writer Steven Lassan predicts that Arizona State will finish 5th in the South division and Sports Illustrated predicts that ASU will finish 10th overall in the conference. Let us take a look at why that is. The program…
