BU-TT Bowl Background The Red Raiders have a chance to even the all time BU-TT Bowl series at 40-40-1 this Saturday back in Lubbock.  It’s perhaps the silliest rivalry name in college football and only truly happens every other year. Texas Tech has to be the home team for the scoreboard to reflect this time-honored tradition, so it is technically the 40th playing of the BU-TT Bowl. (Neutral site games from the years in Arlington were not counted here.) https://twitter.com/rodger/status/1066397385222320128?s=61&t=hHBVJvdFnIDviY_HdkQvlQ These teams are currently sitting at #5 and #6 in the conference standings, so the winner potentially leaps to #3.…

Wildcat Weapons After a whale of a ballgame against the Texas Longhorns and all of the nonsense that followed, it’s time for the second road trip of the season. Another ranked test waits in Manhattan, where FCS legend Chris Kliemen and QB Adrian Martinez have the Wildcats looking sharp. Related: The Final Matchup vs. Texas in Lubbock You may remember Martinez as a turnover machine at Nebraska, but this year, he has been mostly incredible. I caught the end of his 5 touchdown game vs. OU after getting home, and he looked like midwest Lamar Jackson. The KSU receivers cleared…

How do the Vikings bounce back against the Lions this week? We will dive into that after a quick run through of what happened. So first, let’s look at Monday night against Philadelphia, which went pretty poorly but wasn’t as bad as you think. Monday Night Woes Jalen Hurts looked like an early MVP candidate and the Vikings defense had few answers. The interceptions in the end zone killed all the momentum and visibly deflated the players. Darius Slay is the real deal, his shadow work on JJ was some of the best corner work we’ll see this season. It…

After a tough loss to a great team on the road, the Red Raiders head home to take on the Longhorns in Lubbock for one last time. First, we will break down Saturday’s game and then look towards the coming weekend’s matchup. NC State Notes Well it was not a pretty game by any means, but the Red Raiders hung in there. If it wasn’t for a (very) questionable fourth down attempt on their own 35, they would have covered at least. It’s hard to give an accurate reaction to the offensive production in this game because of these several…

Improvements on Both Sides Both Minnesota and Philadelphia used their offseason’s wisely to improve their respective rosters. The Vikings’ re-tooled defensive line, including EDGE Za’Darius Smith and tackle Harrison Phillips, were crucial to the win over the Packers. Coincidentally, those two players combined on the goal line stop of AJ Dillon in the second quarter. With the addition of healthy Danielle Hunter, the improved Vikings D-line is significantly stronger from last season’s most flawed group. This version should be much better equipped to handle the ground game of Jalen Hurts and Myles Sanders. https://twitter.com/NFL/status/1569073096388407297 Vikings fans should also be excited…

Tech’s First Round Talent Top Texas Tech NFL prospect Tyree Wilson has been a force in early season action. The redshirt senior EDGE defender has elite size at 6’7″, 275 pounds. Last season, his potential flashed brightly when he lead the Red Raider defense in sacks and pressures. Analysts have compared his athletic ability and frame to last year’s 1st overall pick, Travon Walker out of Georgia. In case you missed it, here are some of Walker’s highlights from his first NFL start against Washington. https://twitter.com/ChadwikoTWW/status/1569036540122386434 https://twitter.com/LaurieFitzptrck/status/1569049487737241608 Wilson must play a huge role for the Texas Tech defense to…
