The definition of Jonesing is an individual that has an insatiable craving for someone or something. It’s a slang word from Baltimore, referring to someone hooked on drugs. Eventually, the word got watered into a more palatable mainstream version meaning someone was craving anything from food to watching a new movie. The irony of the word in the context I’m about to bring up is a painful and frustrating reality for Cowboys fans. Jerry Jones’s unrelenting need and craving to have unrivaled power in the structure of this team has been the Dallas Cowboys’ downfall for almost three decades. When…

The Cowboys wrapped up their 2022 preseason by hosting the Seattle Seahawks on Friday night. With the roster needing to be finalized by Tuesday, this game served as the final audition for players to stake their claim as a piece of the team’s 53-man roster or hopefully a role on this team’s practice squad. There was a lot to make of this game, and many different mini storylines could prove crucial this season. But there were 5 in particular that I think will most impact this team moving forward. Five takeaways from the Cowboys’ final preseason game The Cowboys’ safeties…

Week 2 of the Cowboys preseason was an eventful affair. After last week’s bizarre snooze fest of a game, many important questions were left unanswered. But following a 32-18 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers, the Cowboys now have more clarity and optimism surrounding the team. There were numerous things to take away from this weekend, but I would love to highlight three players that stood out to me. KaVontae Turpin The undoubted star of Saturday night was newly acquired return specialist KaVontae Turpin. The Cowboys signed Turpin in late July following an MVP season in the USFL. The Cowboys…

Cowboys have moved on from some veteran talent in the offseason.  They will be now be relying on players who have a new amount of responsibility. The development of these players is crucial.  With the Cowboys’ first preseason game fast approaching, I think it’s an excellent time to look at some players that I see taking a massive leap in 2022. CeeDee Lamb Perhaps heading into 2022, the most important player on offense not named Dak Prescott is CeeDee Lamb. He will be the  unquestioned number one receiver for the first time.   Lamb will have more pressure on his shoulder…

When the Cowboys decided to place their primary focus on clearing up cap space at the beginning of free agency, it left them flexible in adding some different talent to their roster. When James Washington went down early in camp, it opened the door to the team using some cap space to add a veteran free agent. But similar to most years, the Cowboys seem reluctant to add a WR. The lack of desire to bring in outside talent is a talking point for fans, and year after year, it seems to be the biggest gripe fans have with this…

It was evident that the Cowboys o-line played a significant factor in the Cowboys’ loss last year in the first round of the playoffs. The offensive line was dreadful, and it cost the team the game. The o-line set the offense back with countless holding calls, and when they weren’t holding, they were getting bossed around by the 49ers’ d-line. And truthfully, the o-line was substandard all year, especially considering previous years, when the line was a strong suit for the team. They looked average a lot of the year, and for the Cowboys to contend, the line needs to…

The Cowboys have a kicking problem through the first two weeks of training camp. Rookie Jonathan Garibay and Lirim Hajrullahu are competing for the starting role, but neither has been convincing. Garibay has struggled, missing over half his kicks with some awful misses. Hajrullahu is currently leading the competition, but he has been anything but convincing. With Zuerliens struggles last year, the Cowboys know how important it is to have a reliable kicker, and with all due respect to both players competing, I don’t think either is the answer. The Cowboys should look into addressing the issue. Here are some…

A lot of the negative rhetoric surrounding the Cowboys over the past week has been how poor the pass catchers are on the team. And I know right now things look a little bleak, but there should be reason for optimism. While others are concerned, I am excited about the Cowboys’ passing game because of what I know CeeDee Lamb will do this year. With what he’s showing in training camp and his natural ability, I am more than confident Ceedee Lamb will have a special year this year.  The first thing that makes me so confident in CeeDee Lamb’s…

Preseason and training camp take on a unique role in professional sports. The sense of desperation that fringe roster guys have adds an element of intrigue that hardcore fans eat up. Seeing players openly fighting for their job in such a public manner almost makes watching the last month before the season seem like you are watching a reality show. And in many ways, you are. You become enamored with some of these training camp stories, and when preseason rolls around, you hope these guys mark their territory on the 53-man roster. Most teams have 40 or so guys fighting…

Heading into training camp, one of the biggest questions on the Cowboys’ defense. Who would be the starting defensive end opposite of Demarcus Lawrence?  The Cowboys had multiple guys to choose from, but Dorance Armstrong was the favorite heading into camp. He might still be the favorite, but second-round pick Sam Williams makes the decision difficult.  His performance at camp so far has been extremely impresive. Coaches Are Taking Notice: According to many coaches, Sam Williams has been one of the standouts at camp, and he has performed so well that Demarcus Lawrence even said Williams had “more tools” than…
