Are the Commanders already a lost cause this season? Technically, no team is completely out of contention only five games in. It appears, though, Washington would need a miraculous series of events in order to not remain one of the bottom feeders in the league. Unfortunately, the issues faced by the franchise are too many to single out. Simply put, there’s trouble in Washington. Head coach Ron Rivera is on shaky ground to say the least. His team only boasts a 1-4 record coming into their matchup against the Bears this Thursday. Many believe he is only a loss or…

With the start of the 2022-2023 NFL season less than a week away, teams have finalized their 53 man rosters. Pre-season games reveal a small sample size of what fans can expect out of some of their newly acquired players and young talent. The Washington Commanders didn’t win a pre-season game. Their efforts didn’t go without some notable events, though, including a player being shot shortly after. It’s only pre-season The Gold and Burgundy went up against the Panthers, Chiefs, and Ravens this pre-season. Losses in these games are not a major cause for concern, but wins are definitely more…

Ever since Daniel Snyder obtained team ownership in 1999, the Washington football franchise has been shaky to say the least. Not only does their record reflect so with the 156 wins verses 212 losses in that time, but they have not advanced past the divisional round since he took over. The newly named Commanders have only made the playoffs and recorded a winning record a total of five times in his tenure. Ten different head coaches have been brought in over that 21 year span as well. Many now wonder if Snyder is on his way out. Problems usually start…

Bring on the Reinforcements It’s already Antonio Gibson’s third year in the NFL. Circumstances will have him settling into more of a committee this go around, too. The big college reciever turned running back has shown promise with the Washington Commanders, compiling +1000 multipurpose yards in his first two campaigns. Team management retained his pass-catching running mate J.D. McKissic, while also using a third round pick on the rookie bruiser Brian Robinson Jr. This surrounding talent suggests they are heading towards a running committee. Injuries have been somewhat of an issue for Gibson, with him already missing a few games.…

Forget Last Year. Can the Washington Commanders return to form on the defensive end this year? Signs point to perhaps. While expectations were high to start the 2021-2022 season, their defense settled into familiar mediocrity right out of the gate. What looked like one of the more well-rounded and upcoming units the previous season, quickly became deteriorated. Head coach Ron Rivera never makes excuses. What went wrong? Whether it was the fact that Washington suffered from one of the tougher schedules in the league, or because their offense couldn’t keep the defense off the field, things fell flat. The pass…

The Wentz experiment begins… Newsflash, the Washington Commanders have needed a quarterback. From the non-existent Ryan Fitzpatrick era last season, to the eventual Taylor Heinicke disappointment, they can’t seem to catch a break. The franchise believes they have found an answer in Carson Wentz, the former Eagle and most recently, Colt. Their organization exchanged multiple draft picks for the North Dakota State alum this offseason. Wentz has had his ups and downs since entering the league in 2016, the latter mainly stemming from frequent injuries. He was a major part of the Philadelphia team that won the Super Bowl in…

The Washington Commanders have finally come to terms with standout reciever Terry McLaurin, signing him to a three-year $71 million contract extension. The deal settles the impasse between the fourth-year player and his team, which dragged on through their mandatory three-day mini camp. McLaurin has been one of the few bright spots for the Commanders, breaking 1,000 yards in multiple campaigns. He maintained leadership on and off the field despite an array of different quarterbacks throwing him the ball. The news will certainly be a relief to the Washington fan base. The newly named franchise has been notoriously inconsistent. Coach…
