Clemson’s Defense Shuts Down NC State The NC State-Clemson showdown Saturday night looked to be a measuring stick game for both teams. The defenses both faced would be the best so far this season. The Tigers secondary still has injury issues. The Wolfpack’s defense, like the entire team, returned the majority of its starters from last season. The Tigers completely stifled NC State’s running game, holding the Wolfpack to just 21-34 rushing. KJ Henry pressured Dennis Leary all night, batting away passes. With a secondary that covered up its issues by playing off coverage, Clemson still allowed just 245 yards…

Dolphins-Bengals Offensive Lines Under Scrutiny Miami added Connor Williams and Terron Armstead to the lowest rated offensive line last season. Head Coach Mike McDaniel also hired Matt Applebaum to coach the offensive line. Cincinnati’s offensive line ranked 20th last year, and the team still made the Super Bowl. The Dolphins-Bengals matchup showcases two offensive lines under a heavy amount of scrutiny the past few years. The Bengals added to their line signing free agents Ted Karras, and La’el Collins, and Alex Kappa. Analysts expected those free agents to significantly improve their line. Yet before this past Sunday’s games the Dolphins…
Erasing 0-7 Resets Bills-Dolphins Rivalry Since Josh Allen took over as the Buffalo’s quarterback the Bills-Dolphins rivalry has been one sided. The combined score of the the last seven games, all wins by Buffalo, 258-125. That includes a 31-28 win in Miami week three of the 2020 season. The Dolphins will not be considered real contenders until they beat the Bills. Tua Tagovailoa must show he can perform against the Bills as well. Tua’s stats of just one touchdown and four interceptions clearly are not good enough. With Tyreek Hill and Jaylen Waddle going up against two rookie corners those…
Clemson Must Run The Ball Better The Furman Paladins outgained Clemson, but the Tigers still won 35-12. If DJ Uiagalelei continues to be the quarterback the running game and offensive line have to help him. A better running game equals play action and easier throws. This can help the receivers who, outside of Antonio Williams, have little speed. 91st in the nation with Will Shipley and Kobe as your backs does not see possible. The line needs to open bigger holes with a better push. Clemson’s Defense Looked Flat Versus Furman The Tigers…
In a great effort by the Clemson defense KJ Henry was the Tigers best defender Photo by Allison Lee Isley Tigers Best; Defense And Special Teams At Championship Level From the very first play KJ Henry showed why the Clemson defense is the Tigers best unit. Henry pressured Georgia Tech quarterback Jeff Simms, Andrew Mukuba picked off the underthrown pass, but the Tigers offense could not do anything with the turnover. The Yellow Jackets managed just 73 yards rushing. The Tigers had 10 tackles for loss, led by Henry’s 2.5. Special Teams proved to be the difference, setting up two…
Christian Wilkins is one of only five defensive linemen on the Miami Dolphins 53 man roster Eric Espada/Getty Images TE Biggest Question On Dolphins 53 Man Roster Two positions on the Dolphin 53 man roster generated interest, and on offense it was the tight ends. Miami decided to keep five tight ends: Mike Gesicki, Durham Smythe, Hunter Long, Cethan Carter, and Tanner Conner. Why did the team keep as many tight end as wide receivers? One reason might be because of Gesicki’s skill set. Gesicki’s skills make him one of the better receiving tight ends in the NFL. Gesicki’s slight…
Eagles-Dolphins Shows Tua And Hill’s Connection The first play, play action to Tyreek Hill from Tua Tagovailoa, was all it took to get Miami fans excited. If the Eagles-Dolphins game will be remembered for anything it will be for the very first pass. Tua played the first quarter and his 6-7-121-1-0 was against the Eagles backups. Hill only played the first drive. His 2-64 receiving set the tone for the rest of the night. Fans wanted to see if their connection looked as good in games as it had in camp. Now fans and coaches hope what they saw tonight…
Mike Gesicki And His Connection With Tua “I’ll get together with him and just go get a couple extra reps. Like ‘hey, this is how I see this route right here.’ This is how I think they’re going to cover you here.’ And we just kind of go through the timing and get that chemistry down and I think that is just a bonus and to sit there rather than, ‘all right, they put the install up and this is this play and this is this stencil, this is how…’ He says, ‘all right, I understand this is the route,…
Dolphins Sign Alexander For Depth Miami needed another cornerback after Trill Williams tore his ACL making a tackle against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Dolphins invited Mackenzie Alexander to workout, and on Monday Alexander signed to provide depth in their secondary. A second round pick, 54th overall in 2016, started 25 of 84 games between the Vikings and Cincinnati Bengals. He intercepted three passes between the two teams. Dolphins Head Coach Mike McDaniel said of Alexander “The versatility [of him being able to play] inside and outside is nice for us. Everyone knows where he’s had his production.” McDaniel also…
Best Dolphins Player Offense: Skylar Thompson Tua Tagovailoa and both sat out Saturday night against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. That left rookie third string quarterback Skylar Thompson to play the entire game in the Miami Dolphins 26-24 win Saturday night. Beyond the box score Thompson showed good mobility, breaking off a 20 yard run, and poise. He showed a good connection with Lynn Bowden especially. He had one bad pass, a throwaway that was nearly intercepted, but on a night why Miami struggled to run the ball Thompson’s arm and feet kept the offense moving. Other Offensive Standouts: Bowden And…
