Danny Carpenter has been writing for Gridiron Heroics since August 2022. I have played fantasy football since 1993 when you had to call your commissioner to submit a lineup, the Monday edition of the USAToday was the holy grail for NFL boxscores and NFL Countdown was the place for early stats. I will be writing articles on the Steelers and fantasy football. Any fantasy football questions, just ask!

It’s finally here! The first week of the NFL season is upon us and I’m going to give some tips on how to approach DFS during the season. DFS can be confusing to first time players, but I will be writing a DFS story each week of the season providing my cash core and others players who should target. My cash core will consist of a quarterback, a running back, a wide receiver and a tight end that you can use at your own accord. But this story will touch on some items you need to be aware of submitting…

The time is now for the majority of the fantasy football drafts, but it’s the letdown players who could ruin your season. I will give one player from each player grouping to be of leery of high expectations. Quarterback Trey Lance, San Francisco: The Lance hype is for real! His upside is based more on his running ability, but he still has to complete passes to be a top QB in the NFL. Lance played three games last season where he attempted 18 or more passes. In those games, his completion percentage was 57 percent. The elite fantasy QBs of…

The charity league draft season is done. The preseason games are entering their final week. Now it’s time to hone your fantasy football draft strategy. I outlined earlier how to attack the hero RB and zero RB draft strategies. Now I want to help with my tips that have made my fantasy football career successful, and your success should be putting yourself in the hunt of the playoffs every season. There is too much variance to win championships in competitive leagues. Most home leagues continue to be redrafts, while the salary cap and redraft with keepers are part of the…

The fantasy draft season is upon us and it’s time to dive into hero RB and zero RB strategies. I am a believer in the hero running back or zero-RB approaches, but for these draft strategies to be successful you need to be well disciplined to avoid the best value RBs in your draft spots. The two strategies have picked up a lot of steam recently with the pass-happy NFL. What makes these two strategies more successful in the recent seasons is the lack of healthy running backs. Only six played in all 17 games of the top 20 fantasy…

Boom Lamar Jackson, Baltimore: Yes, I know Jackson is a proven commodity. But coming off an injury, there are some question marks. However, Jackson is my Boom QB in my Boom-Bust series. Well, those questions marks will be answer as Jackson returns to top 3 QB status this season. The Ravens enter the season with the 8th easiest schedule this season and a healthy group of running mates will help Jackson to deliver. Wide receiver Rashod Bateman and tight ends Mark Andrews and Isaiah Likley give Jackson a steady receiving corps.  Running back J.K. Dobbins is finally practicing, rounding the…

Boom Dalton Schultz, Dallas: I know you may be thinking Schultz has already arrived but he will have a bigger season in 2022. Schultz will be the Boom on my Boom-Bust list. The departure of Amari Cooper and injuries to Michael Gallup and James Washington open up plenty of targets to start the season. The Cowboys will have to rely on their top targets from last year, CeeDee Lamb and Schultz. Schultz’ targets should increase by 15-20 percent (he had 104 targets last year) and he’s proven last season he can handle a heavy workload. Schultz saw 6 for more…

Boom Rashod Bateman, Baltimore: After being a secondary target during his rookie season, Bateman has the perfect opportunity to have a big year. He is the Boom for my Boom-Bust list. The Ravens traded Marquise Brown and his 146 targets to Arizona. Plus, Devonta Freeman was not retained in the backfield, leaving another 42 targets up for grabs. This leaves plenty of room for a big season for Bateman. Bateman proved he can produced when giving a heavy workload. In his four games with eight targets or more, he delivered 25 catches on 34 targets with 290 yards. Plus, I…

Boom Rhamondre Stevenson, New England: Most fantasy football veterans saw this one coming at the end of last season. He makes my Boom-Bust as the Boom. Stevenson finished with more rushes (78 to 66) and more yards (396 to 309) in his last six games playing along side of Damien Harris in 2021, .  Harris had one advantage, scoring touchdowns (6 to 4). Plus, camp speculation has Stevenson taking over the third-down passing game role. The retirement of James White and the departure of Brandon Bolden allowed this opening. Stevenson currently sits at No. 35 in the FantasyPros ERC while…
