Defensive tackle prospect Xzavier McLeod announced his pledge to his hometown college, the University of South Carolina. He picked the Gamecocks over Florida, LSU, Michigan, and Georgia. In June 2021, McLeod took an unofficial visit to the school’s campus and attended a camp that same week. He took official trips to LSU and Michigan but decided to remain in-state for his college football career. Jimmy Lindsey, the defensive line coach for South Carolina, earns credit for bringing in the four-star DT. He enters his second season coaching in Shane Beamer’s program. Around the Swamp, the Florida Gators are sneaking their way to the top of the 2023 national recruiting list. This past weekend, Billy Napier’s program reeled in three 2023 defensive linemen and snagged a top 2024 linebacker. The Gators had an incredible recruiting run in July, and they have shown no signs of slowing down in August. Kelby Collins rejected his home state Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, and South Carolina, to commit to the University of Florida. Co-defensive coordinator and DL coach Sean Spencer receives credit for bringing in Collins. Safeties coach and co-defensive coordinator Patrick Toney assisted the recruiting process.…

After de-committing from Florida State on July 12, quarterback prospect Chris Parson decided to open his options for a fresh start. Exactly one month later, the four-star announced his pledge to Mississippi State. Parson chose the Bulldogs over TCU, SMU, and Virginia Tech. The QB received an offer from Mike Leach’s program in May. He attended a camp the following month. Once Florida State was out of the picture, the Bulldogs became the favorite landing spot for Parson. New England Patriots running back James White announced his retirement from the NFL after eight seasons. White won three Super Bowls and played his entire career for Bill Belichick. The hero of Super Bowl LI suffered a season-ending hip injury that caused him to miss 14 games in 2021. White signed a two-year contract with the Patriots in the offseason. He has been on the PUP list since the start of training camp and had no timetable for returning to action. The organization shared the news before boarding their flight to Florida. Running back Cedric Baxter Jr. lost his best friend, Keiondre Waters, at the age of eight. On what would have been Waters’ 17th birthday, the Florida native announced his commitment to the University of Texas. Baxter Jr. shared the big news during Waters’ ceremony. Head coach Steve Sarkisian’s newest recruit chose the Longhorns over Florida, Texas A&M, and Miami. Running backs coach Tashard Choice gets credit for bringing in the four-star prospect. The Cowboys got a surprising big season from their tight end, Dalton Schultz after Blake Jarwin missed the 2021 season. Dallas placed the franchise tag on Schultz this offseason and failed to extend his contract. With shallow depth at tight end, the team added Jake Ferguson in the offseason. Linebacker Jaiden Ausberry announced his pledge to Freeman’s program. The four-star chose Notre Dame over his hometown LSU, Auburn, Florida, and Texas A&M.
