In the second edition of homicide brides, Rae Carruth’s story will be explored – another instance when true crime meets the gridiron. In the first edition of Homicide Brides, Rae Carruth’s homicidal ways were briefly mentioned. Rae was another Carolina Panther around the same time that was in the same prison that Fred Lane’s homicidal wife was held in. Rae Carruth’s Murder Plot In one of the more diabolical murder-for-hire in recent history, Rae Carruth took the life of his then girlfriend, Cherica Adams. Rae was released from prison in 2018 in what most feel like a surprisingly short sentence… …

Mobletes: Mafia meets football is a unique take on the historical relationship between the Cosa nostra and football. Wait, does that relationship exist? Get your tin foil hats on and find out! When the Mafia is referred to, it is not referencing the Bills Mafia or Dan Snyder’s description of the NFL. We are exploring the actual organized crime group. The Mafia (and, debatably, the NFL) thrive on secrecy, so it’s difficult to confirm anything with absolute certainty. Michael Franzese – Mafia meets football take https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uGfeivlVFo It’s hard to trust a silver fox that looks this good when he’s in…

The history of controversial touchdown celebrations will be discussed today – we will boot scootin’ boogie our way through the dances that set the stage for our touchdown tangos today. In the recently dropped Homicide bride series, Fred Lane’s infamous crotch grab touchdown celebration inspired the writing of this article. RIP Fred Lane – we wish we could have seen more touchdown celebrations from you. The very first touchdown celebration Like most “firsts” in history, there is no clear consensus on which touchdown celebration came first and what counted as a celebration. We will appreciate all of our frolicking football…

In the first edition of the Homicide Bride series, we will discover yet another unique time when true crime meets the gridiron. Homicide brides will cover both true crime stories of brides being homicidal and brides being the victims of homicides. Also, the term “bride” will be used loosely – signifying a committed relationship between a player and their partner. My fellow writer J Allen (look at his incredible work here) brought Fred Lane’s story to my attention, and it had to be the series’ first story. The True Crime Story of Fred Lane Fred Lane was murdered on June…

Buccaneers’ Russell Gage sustained a terrifying injury that scared fans Monday night. Post Damar Hamlin’s injury, all football players and fans are a little more anxious every time a player gets seriously injured, and immediate medical attention is required. Fans were holding their hands to their face in shock and horror, as we all did at home. It couldn’t be happening again, could it? It’s completely normal to be faced with a traumatic situation before and react strongly to a similar circumstance. Were our fears founded? Absolutely, 100%. Football is a dangerous game, and Russell Gage sustained a serious injury.…

There comes a time when every Seattle Seahawks fan watches their team on fire, smoldering in the flames of shame. This loss didn’t feel that way. We went in knowing it was a long shot and that the real victory was qualifying for the playoffs. Even so, I pet my semi-feral cats, whipped out a tub of chocolate chip cookie dough ice cream, and watched every clip on YouTube of the 49ers losing a game ever. Does anyone else find pretty boy Purdy’s face maddening? #1 Takeaway: It’s impressive the Seattle Seahawks made it to the playoffs. I certainly didn’t…

It’s Seattle Seahawk Playoff Review time! The playoffs look a little different this year for some – our wildcard game will be coin-flip-free. We will have storms and Pete Carroll being too nice (maybe), but no coins. The Seattle Seahawks are clear underdogs to everyone but the Hawks. We shouldn’t write them off, though, because Geno Smith is not writing back. The League thought that the Seattle Seahawks would be irrelevant this season with Geno Smith at the helm, and they were so wrong. The Seahawks have been full of surprises and should not be counted out just yet. Gridiron…

Is Pete Carroll Killing the 49ers with kindness? A strategy or sportsmanship? It’s unclear what Pete Carroll’s approach was when he complimented the 49ers so thoroughly on Monday. He calls the opposing team “juggernaut,” says  “they’re frickin’ on fire,” calls McCaffrey a “gem,” and says Kyle Shanahan has done an “incredible job with his QBs this season.” Coach Carroll is a unique guy. He’s the oldest coach in the league, but he has a higher level of energy than many coaches half his age. His stress level can be gaged by the intensity he is chewing his gum during a…

Support came from an unexpected place for the Hamlin Family this past week. Very few people can say they are the family of an NFL player who had a cardiac event on the field. Well, only one other family actually. And they have offered their support to the Hamlin family. Damar Hamlin Damar Hamlin’s heart stopped on the field, and due to a quick and skilled response from the medical team, he was revived on the field and brought to the hospital. At this time, no one is quite clear about what caused Hamlin’s sudden cardiac arrest on the field,…
