Last season against Minnesota, Cooper Rush dropped 325 yards and 2 TDs for the win in his debut start.  After his first career win, the cameras showed his family’s emotional reaction in the stands. The father was basking in what must have been the proudest moment of his life, and he had no intention of hiding it. Quarterback comparison Cooper Rush is 2-0 this season. By comparison, Dak Prescott is 0-1, having scored just three points with essentially the same personnel. Aside from the opponent, the most noticeable difference would be the lack of playmaker Dalton Schultz who hauled in…

The roots of Bedlam date back to November 6, 1904.  It was well below freezing with heavy winds that Sunday in Island Park (Mineral Wells Park). Guthrie was the future temporary capitol of Oklahoma, three years before it even became a state. It was also the host city of the first recorded matchup between the universities’ football teams. The ongoing wrestling rivalry between the two schools spilled over into their football programs.  A punter had lost the ball due to the powerful winds. The gales pushed it down the field into an icy creek.  This was equivalent to a live…

In January, Michael Gallup tore his ACL against Arizona. It happened amidst a leaping, spinning, contested TD catch. Cowboys Nation watched in horror as he writhed on the ground holding his leg. A sigh of relief as he limped off the field, mostly under his own power, turned into a collective sigh of frustration upon his diagnosis. The Dallas Cowboys organization as well as its fans had suffered a huge loss, as they’re well aware of his enormous impact on games. Getting ready to Gallup In the off-season, to the surprise of many, the Cowboys traded Amari Cooper to the…

Could a headset malfunction have changed the course of the Cowboys vs Bengals game? Some fans seem to think so. They may even argue that point until they’re blue in the face, or orange, as it were. Homefield advantage According to Cowboys defensive coordinator Dan Quinn’s press conference, during the most crucial moment in the game, there was no headset communication for either team. The calls had to be signaled in, and both teams were scrambling to do it. “I’m sure it was out for both sides, otherwise our homefield advantage would really be s*****” Quinn jokingly surmised. “The headset broke,…

Getting slapped by this Venables coached Oklahoma team was always going to leave a mark.  And leave a mark it did. In the roaring sea of scarlet at Memorial Stadium in Lincoln, the Cornhuskers stopped OU’s first drive and struck first.  It certainly appeared as if they’d come to play.  Unfortunately for them, they’d have to wait a couple of hours before striking again (in the 4th, with the backups). Don’t Close Your Eyes DE Reggie Grimes, who likely gives opposing QBs night terrors, came into the game with four of the Sooners’ nine sacks.  He’d add to the collective…

After last night’s win over the Cowboys, there remains only one quarterback ahead of Brady.  That is to say, in terms of win streaks against America’s Team.  Brady is now 7-0 vs the Cowboys and tied with legendary Browns QB Frank Ryan. The QB ahead of Brady is Randall Cunningham who played for the Eagles.  Jerry eventually caved and persuaded him to be a Cowboy by overpaying him, surely to stop the abuse. Brady was on the market a couple of years ago too.  He signed with the Bucs on the cheap.  Jerry could have stopped the bleeding for nearly…

After last week’s exciting matchup in Wyoming that ended in a disappointing loss, Tulsa would face a tough Northern Illinois team.  In a homefield match that had the Golden Hurricanes projected to win, they dominated most of the first half. A Shift in Momentum The score was already 17-0, and Tulsa was gearing up for another drive down the field when their luck would change.  DT James Ester of N Illinois put a hit on Tulsa QB Davis Brin as he was throwing, resulting in a high floater and an easy interception by Jammeh.  NIU then methodically drove down the…

On Monday, the Dallas Cowboys signed former Eagles OT Jason Peters to a one-year contract.  HOF-bound Peters was born in Texas and was living there during the time of his signing.  The age defying 40-year-old was also possibly the best available player left on the market at his position.  The choice made sense for both sides. The long-standing starter and another future HOF offensive tackle Tyron Smith went down two weeks ago with an avulsion fracture to the left knee.  He was trying to block teammate Leighton Vander Esch at the time. Clearly, he’s a top tier talent at his…
