As the 2022 NFL preseason heats up, we can expect to see teams making big trades to try to finalize their rosters. The Texans joined that fray yesterday, acquiring TE Adam Shaheen and a 7th-round 2023 draft pick from the Miami Dolphins. In exchange, the Dolphins received a 6th-round 2023 draft pick. Texans TEs Shaheen will likely replace Antony Auclair on the Texans’ roster. Auclair’s knee was injured in practice late July, and he has not been able to participate in workouts and drills. The three other tight ends currently on the Texans’ roster are still healthy. For now, it…

The Texans drafted Derek Stingley Jr. in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft. Immediately after, he was named starting cornerback. Now it seems the Texans have much more planned for Stingley Jr.’s professional career, including a possible position as punt returner. Across the NFL, only two teams ended the 2021 season with worse records than the Houston Texans. While they struggled on both sides of the ball, their efforts to reinforce their offense may already pay dividends in the upcoming season. Although there are still many familiar faces, the team also drafted a number of promising rookies to key positions. Quarterback There are still high expectations for Davis Mills at QB. Even though he finished the 2021 season with a mediocre QBR of 88.8, his stats are actually close to par with his record at Stanford. There his completion percentage was…

The New Orleans Saints’ 2021 season suffered greatly from injuries and illness sustained by some of their most important players. Fans can find some comfort in the team’s offseason moves to shore up these positions, but have the Saints really covered all of their risks? Their defense has plenty of potential to rank in the top 5 yet again after making such moves as picking up free agents Tyrann Mathieu and Marcus Maye. But their offense still has plenty of questions surrounding it, and we should closely examine the Saints RB situation. The Running Backs Alvin Kamara always seems to…
