It’s been four seasons since the Auburn football program posted a .500 or better record. It’s been five seasons since the Auburn Tigers finished the season inside the AP Poll Top 25, going 9-4 in their second to final year under the guidance of head coach Gus Malzahn. Last year, for a fourth consecutive campaign last year, Auburn lost seven games, an unprecedented stretch of mediocrity for a program with two undefeated seasons in the 21st century. The Tigers backed up the Brink’s truck this offseason to stack their roster via the transfer portal.
On Wednesday, On3 released their top five programs regarding offseason NIL spending. Topping the list is Auburn football, a once-SEC power that has injected new life into its program by adding high-end transfers. Auburn surpassed Michigan, Ole Miss, Texas Tech, and Texas for most of the money spent on the 2025 transfer portal class.
Auburn Football Owns 2025 Transfer Portal Class

According to On3 via Twitter:
NEW: An anonymous SEC personnel staffer tells @PeteNakos_ Auburn, Michigan, Ole Miss, Texas, and Texas Tech spent the most money on their Transfer Portal class.
“In theory, Tech f**ked up the market for everybody.”
Following a fourth straight disappointing season, Auburn football did their part in restructuring their roster through the winter window of the transfer portal. The Auburn Tigers added 16 players through the portal, many of whom were highly sought after following their departure from a previous program. Among them, 247Sports has Auburn adding six four-star transfers. Among them is former five-star quarterback mega prospect Jackson Arnold. The replacement for Dillon Gabriel with the Oklahoma Sooners, Arnold threw for 12 touchdowns against three picks as a redshirt freshman last year. He also added 444 rushing yards and three scores.
However, Arnold is not Auburn football’s highest-graded transfer grab. Wide receivers Horatio Fields and Eric Singleton Jr., offensive tackles Mason Murphy and Xavier Chaplin, and corner Raion Strader all have elite transfer portal grades per 247Sports. Fields had 463 receiving yards and four scores with a struggling Wake Forest Demon Deacons team in 2024. Meanwhile, Singleton Jr. is considered one of the most electric players from the transfer portal, having 895 scrimmage yards and four touchdowns last season.
