It’s no secret that the past decade has been a challenging one for Auburn football fans. With only two bowl games and four consecutive seasons falling short of six wins, the Tigers have yet to reclaim the glory of the Bo Jackson or Cam Newton era. Despite these setbacks, Auburn’s loyal devotees have continued to fill Jordan-Hare Stadium, a testament to their unwavering support for the team since 1939.
Regrettably, the recent struggles of Auburn football have not gone unnoticed by Electronic Arts (EA), the publisher of the latest edition of the beloved college football games. Their ranking of Jordan-Hare Stadium outside the top ten in the ‘Toughest Places to Play Top 25’ has left Auburn fans, and even rival SEC fans, feeling deeply disappointed, as evidenced by their vocal expressions of displeasure on Twitter.
Auburn Football Fans: Disgusted with EA’s Ranking of Jordan-Hare Stadium

On Tuesday, in preparation for the highly anticipated release of College Football 25, publisher EA Sports released the game list of “Toughest Places to Play Top 25.” In the newest edition of the college football franchise, home-field advantage will play a significant role in gameplay. Among those feeling slighted by the rankings were Auburn football fans, with Jordan-Hare Stadium clocking in at 14. To make matters worse, Auburn’s home field is seventh among SEC schools, per EA Sports.
Winning at Jordan-Hare has been a challenging feat for opposing teams. Auburn football owns a 205-43 record on their home turf, including 30 straight wins in the 1950s. Although posting a poor 6-7 record in 2023, Auburn gave top-ranked Georgia and Alabama a run for their money, nearly beating both at home last year. Additionally, all five of their wins in 2022 came at home. The pride of Auburn football, their fans, let EA know they felt disrespected via Twitter, responding to their ranking with mostly disgust and confusion.

Auburn should be literally 5th and maybe higher bc Alabama’s atmosphere isn’t tough but people aren’t ready for that conversation. https://t.co/Iubsmz57vN

Auburn Football: Looking for First Winning Season since 2020

Auburn will enter the second year of the Hugh Freeze era in 2024. Freeze, renowned for his success at Ole Miss from 2012 to 2015 and recent achievements at Liberty from 2019 to 2022, is set to lead Auburn to a new era of winning football. Despite a 6-7 record in his first season, the eighth-ranked recruiting class of 2024, according to On3 Sports, is a promising sign of the team’s future.
Auburn will also return the starting backfield of Payton Thorne and Jarquez Hunter. Thorne, a transfer from Michigan State, threw for 1,755 yards, 16 touchdowns, and ten picks last year. However, he is just two years removed from a 27-touchdown, 10-pick campaign. Meanwhile, Jarquez Hunter rushed for 909 yards and seven scores last season. He owns a healthy 6.2 yards per rush attempt in three college seasons.
