Auburn football blitzed the Kentucky Wildcats last Sunday en route to a 24-10 victory. Deadlocked at ten a piece at halftime, the Auburn Tigers continuously bashed their SEC foe via the ground game while opposing quarterback Gavin Wimsatt went 3-for-9 for 35 yards, an interception, and a sack. With the win, Auburn snapped a four-game slide, picked up their first conference win, and kept their bowl eligibility alive. However, head coach Hugh Freeze will face a familiar foe next weekend when they host the Vanderbilt Commodores and quarterback Diego Pavia.
Freeze, the former head coach with the Liberty Flames and in year two with Auburn Tigers will face Pavia for the third time in as many years. A star with the New Mexico State Aggies before transferring to Vanderbilt, Pavia is 2-0 against a Freeze-led team, which is not lost on the bench boss. On Monday, Freeze jokingly suggested he had seen enough of Pavia, which prompted the rise of many Auburn and college football fans.
Fans Erupt After Auburn Football HC Hugh Freeze Talks Diego Pavia

According to Auburn football recruiting analyst Caleb Jones:
Hugh Freeze has jokes about facing Vanderbilt (former New Mexico State) QB Diego Pavia this week:
“I’m sick of seeing that quarterback.”
This weekend’s matchup between Auburn football head coach Hugh Freeze and Vanderbilt Commodores Diego Pavia will mark the third time the two have clashed in as many years. In 2022, with Freeze leading the Liberty Flames and Pavia under center for the New Mexico State Aggies, the latter went 16-of-21 for 214 yards and three touchdowns in a lopsided 49-14 upset victory. He also rushed for 125 yards and three touchdowns on 20 carries. Last season, Pavia again led an upset win for NMSU, this time with Freeze as the frontman for the Auburn Tigers. In a 31-10 victory, Pavia threw for 201 yards and three touchdowns.
On Saturday, Pavia will lead an impressive Vanderbilt team that is 5-3 with wins over Kentucky and Alabama. Last weekend, they narrowly fell to the Texas Longhorns 27-24 while owning a ranking in the AP Poll for the first time in 2013. Freeze is right to fear another standout, Diego Pavia game, but with their record sitting at 3-5, many Auburn fans were not amused with his joke surrounding the elite passer:
I have a feeling that this is a topic on which he and Bama will find common ground.
