Auburn Football Fans Divided After Hugh Freeze Gets Put on Blast by Former College Signal-Caller – Week 4

For the fifth time in as many years, the Auburn football program is starring at another season of mediocracy and below-average results. On Sunday, the Auburn Tigers hosted the Arkansas Razorbacks in their SEC opener, falling 24-14 and pushing their record to .500 through four games. Auburn struggled mightily on offense, with starting quarterback Hank Brown tossing three interceptions in the game’s first 30 minutes. A week prior, Brown took over for incumbent starter Payton Thorne following his disastrous performance, a four-interception outing against the Cal Golden Bears, also at home.

Following the SEC tilt, the Auburn faithful rushed to social media angrily, criticizing head coach Hugh Freeze for his inability to figure out the quarterback position. Freeze famously said this offseason that he would not use a significant portion of the team’s NIL fund to acquire an elite signal-caller via the portal. However, not only did fans put Freeze on blast, but his former quarterback, Bo Wallace, during his Ole Miss Rebels day, also ripped into the leadman. Those same fans remain split on Wallace’s comments, some disregarding his remarks while others sided with the longtime SEC starter.

According to former Ole Miss Rebels quarterback Bo Wallace on Twitter:

Not gonna sit here and fight with Auburn fans … hitch your wagons to him and see what happens. I did one time, too… holler at me in 2 years, and we’ll see where you’re at.

We’re approaching the point where he’s thrown so many QBs under the bus that maybe no one wants to play for him??

Wallace also called Hugh Freeze one of the country’s best playcallers but stopped at calling him a good human who has helped him in his post-playing career. Wallace spent three years starting for Freeze at Ole Miss from 2012 to 2014, throwing for 9,534 yards, 62 touchdowns, and 41 picks. The former gunslinger mainly took exception with his old bench boss routinely blaming others following a defeat. Wallace implored Auburn football fans to question if Freeze is the proper frontman for the former SEC power.

Many Auburn fans claimed Wallace was inconsistent with his relationship regarding Freeze, while others blamed CTE for his late-night remarks. More notably, many sided with Wallace following his postgame rant, declaring Freeze the problem with Auburn’s current state in football:
