Atlanta Falcons rookie defensive end James Pearce Jr. was arrested on Saturday in Florida. He was taken into custody after crashing his vehicle following a police chase. Pearce was charged with the following crimes:

  • 2 counts of aggravated battery with a deadly weapon
  • Aggravated stalking
  • Fleeing/eluding police

As of this writing, the Atlanta Falcons have not addressed the situation or commented about Pearce Jr. Since the bond is yet to be set for all of his crimes, he currently remains in custody. He was booked into Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center after a reported dispute between a man and a female. The female was reported and later confirmed by Doral Police Chief Edwin Lopez to be WNBA star Rickea Jackson, and Pearce would flee the scene before crashing his vehicle and being arrested.

Pearce Jr. was selected by the Atlanta Falcons with the 26th pick in the 2025 NFL Draft and was the runner-up for the Defensive Rookie of the Year Award. He recorded 10.5 sacks during his rookie season, which was the most by a rookie since Micah Parsons in 2021. There are going to be more details that emerge regarding this situation, and we will update you as it becomes available.
