The Atlanta Falcons are coming off of a huge win against the Philadelphia Eagles in Week Two. The team drove down the field in the final minutes of the game to secure the game-winning touchdown catch by receiver Drake London, who did not hold back during his celebration. As a result, the NFL has penalized him with a hefty fine for a “violent gesture.”
Atlanta Falcons Receiver Fined for Celebration
London was fined $14,069 for unsportsmanlike conduct in what the league is calling a violent gesture. The receiver pretended to fire shots into the crowd following the game-winning touchdown thrown by quarterback Kirk Cousins.

The star receiver finished the game with six receptions for 54 yards and a touchdown. He is coming off of his best career year last season, when he amounted to 905 receiving yards. He is hoping to have an even better year this season with Cousins under center, and he is already becoming one of his favorite targets.
NFL Cracking Down on Celebrations
The NFL is known for handing out several fines from the prior week before the next games begin, and players including London received similar fines for the same reasons. New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr received the same heft fine for doing a Michael Jackson celebration after scoring a touchdown, and fans are starting to get fed up with these punishments.

While fans are not happy with the league fining their players for celebrations, Londons celebration can be viewed as more graphic than most. Do you believe the receiver should have been fined for his celebration?
