In a couple of days, the NFL is set to return. This means fantasy managers will have to build their rosters, mainly via a draft. As it stands, they should steer clear of Atlanta Falcons tight end Kyle Pitts as there are other better options out there.
In the Falcons’ first padded practice of the training camp, Pitts showcased his exceptional talent, making a significant impact on the field. With new quarterback Kirk Cousins and rookie Michael Penix Jr. on the roster, Pitts appeared rejuvenated and ready to reclaim his status as a top tight end.

After a challenging couple of seasons marred by injuries and inconsistent quarterback play, Pitts is looking to bounce back. He initially burst onto the scene as a rookie with over 1,000 receiving yards, but injuries have since limited his production. During this practice, he demonstrated his skills by scoring multiple touchdowns and making impressive catches, including one where he outmaneuvered safety Demarco Hellams.
Pitts’ ability to create mismatches against defenders is a crucial element for the Falcons’ offense, especially with the team aiming for a more dynamic passing game this season. The highlights from the practice show he’s not only catching passes but also effectively utilizing his size and speed in one-on-one situations.
ESPN Fantasy Football Analysis Includes Atlanta Falcons’ Kyle Pitts in ‘Do Not Draft’ List

While Pitts had a good showing during training camp, the same may not be said in ESPN’s fantasy football projection about the Falcons star. This can be seen in an NFL analysis by Eric Karabell.

“Nearly everyone seems to love Atlanta’s Kyle Pitts this season, which is often a dangerous precursor. Pitts achieved 1,026 receiving yards as a rookie, and in 27 games since then, he has only 1,023 yards. Everyone blames the team’s quarterback play, and now Cousins rides in from the north to save his tight end’s fantasy value and make him into Tony Gonzalez?
Nah, don’t buy it, certainly not in Round 7. Six touchdowns in 44 career games cannot be all about quarterback play. Just take Dalton Schultz or Pat Freiermuth in the final rounds. Their numbers may be better anyway,” Karabell wrote.
With fans and analysts alike buzzing about his performance, there’s a renewed sense of optimism surrounding Pitts. The thing is, fantasy managers may be wary because of his injury history, an unknown factor that can cost games when the league starts soon.

If he can stay healthy and maintain this level of play, he’s poised for a breakout year that could significantly elevate the Falcons’ offensive capabilities. On the other hand, fantasy managers may end up regretting him if the same old thing happens to the tight end.
