The Atlanta Falcons offense struggled once again on Monday night football on the road against the Las Vegas Raiders. Kirk Cousins only completed 11-of-17 passes for 112 yards, one touchdown, and one interception in a 15-9 Falcons win over the Raiders.
With the win, Atlanta improves to 7-7 on the season and Las Vegas drops to 2-12 on the season. The Falcons are trying to keep pace with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers (8-6) in the NFC South Divisional race.
Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris Calls Out Kirk Cousins After the Game
After the game, Falcons head coach Raheem Morris called out the former Minnesota Vikings quarterback. With Cousins struggling over the last month, there is no question that he deserved to be called out for his struggles. Morris said:
“He wants to play better, he’s gotta play better, we gotta find a way to get him to play better.”
With Cousins struggling at the moment, could this eventually lead to him being benched for rookie quarterback Michael Penix Jr.? It remains to be seen what happens, but the Falcons face the 2-12 New York Giants next week.
The Giants defense only has two interceptions all season long. This would be the perfect game for Atlanta’s star quarterback, Kirk Cousins, to finally get his groove back.
Fans React
They didn’t allow him to play. 36 run attempts. Plenty of 4th and manageable on Raiders side of field and settling for FGs. No trust. Falcons are cooked.

It’s time to play better was after the bye. There’s other teams battling and our player(s) health percentages are higher. Better tackling and better decisions.

Kirk Cousins will have three years remaining on his contract with the Atlanta Falcons. It will be interesting to see if Atlanta would trade him after the season but Cousins has a no-trade clause in his contract. There is a good chance that Michael Penix Jr. is the starting quarterback for the 2025 season no matter what happens with the Falcons for the remainder of the 2024 season.
