The Atlanta Falcons made an easy decision when it comes to wide receiver Drake London’s future.
Wednesday, according to a report from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, the Falcons officially exercised wide receiver Drake London’s fifth-year option, guaranteeing one more year of team control on the emerging star’s rookie contract.
London, who was chosen No. 8 overall in the 2022 NFL Draft, will now count $16.817 million against the cap for the 2026 season, unless the Falcons decide to sign the playmaker to a long-term extension before that point.
Atlanta Falcons WR Drake London Fired Up About QB Michael Penix Jr.

In all likelihood, second-year quarterback Michael Penix Jr. will be the Falcons’ starting quarterback when Atlanta takes the field this fall, and London is already all-in on the second-year former first-round pick.
“[Penix’s] an absolute dog, and that goes with everybody on the offense,” London told reporters back in January. “I’m not going to say too much, because they know themselves. I’m the same type of person. I don’t need nobody to get me going or anything like that.
“So, he’s an absolute dog and he stays poised. You may not see it, but he got that s— in his eyes for sure.”
Somewhat shockingly chosen with the No. 8 overall pick in last spring’s NFL Draft, Penix passed for 755 yards with three touchdowns to three interceptions in five starts down the stretch last season, while flashing his potential as a dual-threat quarterback.
London is clearly optimistic about Penix Jr.’s trajectory and is a key piece both in the young quarterback’s development as well as the trajectory of the franchise.
