The Jacksonville Jaguars finished the 2024 NFL season with a 4-13 record. The Jaguars had the number five pick in the 2025 NFL Draft until they traded up to second overall with the Cleveland Browns and selected Travis Hunter.

Jacksonville Jaguars Positive Ahead Of 2025 Season Because Of Travis Hunter According To One Analyst

“Arrival of Travis Hunter
Travis Hunter will be one of the more fascinating prospects to track throughout his rookie season. The Jaguars pulled off a blockbuster trade on Draft Day to move up to the No. 2 overall pick to bring Hunter to Jacksonville. Now, it’s going to be must-see TV on how the Jags use him. At Colorado, Hunter was a star wide receiver and cornerback, and it looks like Jacksonville will give him a shot to play both ways at the NFL level. The Heisman Trophy winner addresses key needs for the Jaguars at both receiver and corner, but maybe the most exciting angle will be Hunter lining up opposite of Brian Thomas Jr. within Liam Coen’s offense. “
Hunter will mainly be playing wide receiver at the NFL level compared to playing cornerback. Hunter and Thomas Jr. could be an electric wide receiver duo next season. During the 2024 college football season with the Colorado Buffaloes, he caught 96 passes for 1,258 yards receiving and 15 touchdowns, along with averaging 13.1 yards per reception.
He was the Heisman Trophy winner during the 2024 college football season. With the Jaguars drafting Hunter, this could be the last chance that quarterback Trevor Lawrence will be able to prove himself as the team’s starting quarterback. Hunter could also be in some defensive packages as well for Jacksonville during the 2025 NFL season.
